Shoot, if an employee can even _see_ our CLETS/NCIC computer screen,

we have to send a set their of prints to DOJ for a check. This

includes janitors.

Also, when members of the public on a " sit-along " (to see if they wish to

be a dispatcher) watch what we do, they CANNOT be allowed to view

CLETS/NCIC information displayed on a monitor. Which means when you're

showing them how CAD works - or they're just watching what you do - ya

gotta tell 'em to avert their gaze if there's CLETS/NCIC stuff on your

screen. Can't look at the printed copies of DMV info, either.

Regarding backgrounds, if a former dispatcher wishes reinstatement, our

department performs a background investigation into the time period to

cover the interval between their departure and the present, and they are

required to complete the drug screen again. Background investigations for

folks working at OTHER agencies that apply for our department are still

completed as if they'd never had one; although the other agency's

background investigation material MAY be released to us, it would only be a

basis for our investigators to review. We wouldn't depend upon it -

there's no guarantee it would be as complete as one we'd do on 'em.

(Although it may have been MORE extensive; ya never know.)

Happy to be here, proud to serve.

We can do the same here in Colorado BUT all you get is what is allowable via

the " public records act " . You won't always get everything that law

enforcement gets, such as information on sealed records, expungments,

juvenile records.
