is so cute. It's great to invlove your daughter and let her help decorate.

We didn't have a chin strap on Jenna's band. As far as the 23 hours it is important to try to follow that as much as possible. We never know when they are growing.

Hi everyone,Thanks to for loading my pictures of for me. There are 3 pictures under the "" folder (imagine that?!). The first one was from yesterday and the next two were taken today after our 2 1/2 year old daughter helped to decorate it. He has a Mickey Mouse sticker over one ear, a Pooh sticker over the other, and firetruck themed stickers over the rest of it. I am still trying to get used to this helmet. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but nursing is a little bit hard...the helmet digs into his cheek a little. He is also getting little red rashlike bumps on his little cheeks.A couple of questions for you veterans.... 1) How do you keep the strap under his chin at night? He woke up a couple of times last night and it had inched it's way up to his mouth.2) They recommend having the helmet on 24/7. Okay, realistically, you can't with changing clothes and washing his head/hair (or bathtime). How long is too long to keep it off in one day? I think today totalled about an hour and a half between my nursing him while they decorated it, and then tonight during bathtime, feeding, etc.Thanks in advance everyone!For more plagio info

Hi :

He's adorable & clearly isn't minding his new helmet one bit, that's

great. Tell your daughter she did a terrific decorating job I'm

sure she loved helping decorate her baby brother's helmet.

Like most everyone else, my Abby's bands had no chin strap. I see

added that to your subject line, hopefully you'll get some

answers from the board, if not, ask your orthotist.

It shouldn't be " digging " into his cheek at all, if it is, I'd

definitely ask your orthotist about it. As for the tiny red bumps,

it sounds like maybe a heat rash? Try hydrocortize cream to clear

that up.

Oh and 23 hrs a day is what most of us have been told. One hr off

usually to clean the helmet, bath baby or whatever!

Hi ,

I'm a little behind in reading my emails. 's pictures are very cute. Your daughter did a wonderful job : )

na doesn't have a chin strap so I can't help there.

We usually have na's band off for about an hour a day. She has to do neck stretches up to 5 times a day (about 5 minutes each). I usually leave it on for feeding, but recently she's become a messy eater.

It is really weird when you first get a band and have

to nurse or cuddle your baby. I got knocked in the

chin multiple times when trying to hug my son. It

does dig in some areas, but that's only temporary

while you're nursing or cuddling and soon you'll be a

pro at positioning and working around the band.

Regarding the rash...are you using lotion on his

cheeks? It may be causing a rash if the band is

touching moisturized areas. Plus, drool may cause

that, too.

We usually removed Judah's DOCBand when changing

clothes (some clothes, like onesies may not require

removal) and then put it right back on again.

Normally, most clinicians prescribe 23/7 (one hour off

for cleaning they band and the baby). Doing this will

not impact the rounding out process. In fact, you

need to have hygiene time to prevent bacteria buildup.

My husband and I got into a pretty normal routine of

one person bathing the baby and the other cleaning the

band.

Chat with your clinician next time for recommended

cleaning tips (and be sure not to deviate from their

advice). For example, clean with alcohol once/day

(more frequently may cause a skin rash on your baby),

if you have a sunny day, you can sit the band in the

sunshine as a natural deodorizer, and shampoo 's

head normally, but don't put baby lotion on the areas

where the band touches as it can get in the foam and

invite bacteria.

Don't be surprised if you see his skin get a little

" tough " in areas where the band touches. This is OK.

It's actually good because it decreases any

sensitivity they may have. Red spots are normal, so

long as they go away within an hour. Longer than that

may mean a required adjustment.

And keep it on even if has a fever. Clinicians

always advised us that unless it was a really high

fever (102F+), that it was okay to keep it on.
