Yes, I see that now, after reading the other messages, I am trying to

increase my walks to 60 mins a day. I will let all of you know how my levels

turn out after I finally get up to that level of exercise, I am slowly

increasing every day, but may take a while to get up to the full one hour.

The weather on the Cape is so changeable this time of year.....rain, snow,

sleet nor dread of night....ohh thats something else.....but I plan to walk

regardless...

Thanks, that is good to know, but I struggle to find the time to get out

there to do it ...so I like to do it all at one if I can.....this exercise

thing is all new to me....but I am very very determined. But I will try to

break it up as you say, maybe that will make it easier to get out more often.

Thanks for the suggestion.

, my first winter with diabetes I found my feet got very painful if I

was out walking when it was below 40 degrees (which isn't really very cold)

even with fur-lined boots and Polartek socks..no problem any other time thank

goodness!....now when the weather turns cold or rainy (got lots of that here

in Oregon!) I go to the mall and do my walk there. Scenerey isn't as nice

but I bring a book on tape and it helps pass the time while I'm walking.

,

For now, you can do your 60 minutes in more than one session if you need to.

With my arthritis and asthma, I can't do 60 minutes at once, so I walk more than

once a day.

You're welcome. I guess I should admit here that I cheat a bit. I have a

treadmill in my office. (I work from home)

Hang in there!

Vicki, living in Washington, our weather is about the same as yours in

Portland. I went and got myself an early holiday gift, an exercise bike that

sits like a chair. I got it at wal-mart for $99.95 and its great. It tells

you miles, speed, calories burned, and time. I only pay attention to the

miles myself. My target right now is 20 miles a day, most days I make it. I

try to do 5 miles at a time, anything just so I hit my target of 20 miles a

day. I don't have to worry about the weather,or going out of the house to do

my exercise. And its so comfortable, those other exercise bikes were so

uncomfortable I could never go very long on them. D.J. :+}

Vicki:

the mall sounds great, my Mom does that and she is going to be 87 in two

months!

But the closest mall for me is 50 miles one way....so I need to find some

good boots and just hope that my feet are going to be ok.We do have a gym

with treadmills, but that is so boring........oh yeah....I suppose the book

on tape....but also expensive I think $45 a month, but something to consider,

it is my health afterall.

thanks for the advice

Vicki:

Me? the Monument? moi? that high up? are you kidding?

I try not to go up higher than twice my height!

I have a fear of heights. I did go up to the bottom of the monument stairs

once and look up though. hahha

It took me three years to get up the courage to drive back over the canal

bridge again.

And You want me to go up to the top of the Monument, I dont think so!
