Am I getting Ripped Off?

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer on June 26 and have spent the past three months undergoing bone scans, CT scans (all normal), researching, and worrying. My biopsy found cancer in 5 of 6 cores all on the left side with the largest dimension measuring 4 mm. PSA is 6.7. The Gleason grade is 7 (4+3). It is entirely contained and cannot be felt with the digital exam. I am 67 years young. My urologist feels I am a good candidate for surgery, but the risks and side effects worry me. I met with the Radiation Oncology Center Doctor and he believes that Brachytherapy would work well for me, so after a little more research I finally decided and signed up for it. But then I met with the surgeon that would actually do the implant and he wants me to undergo 5 weeks of external beam radiation first. He is a little worried about my Gleason score. My Senior Dimensions insurance requires a co-pay of $300 the first week and $150 for each subsequent week of EBRT. Although I could have the IMRT treatment for the co-pay of $1000 the first week and $300 each subsequent week which I will probably choose. I can afford the co-pays, but I don't want to be the victim of a scam. Nevada is not known for its top quality medical services and my insurance will not cover proton beam or robotic surgery.

I would appreciate any comments or recommendations from those who might have experienced this type of situation. Thanks, in Las Vegas
