hi Amy:)

We used 91% alcohol on Abby's band. We first started with the 70%

too but we found the 91% at the pharmacy so went w/that instead. I

think I've actually heard about 99% alcohol but that has to be

specifically asked the pharmacist for (but you do not need a rx).

So maybe you could ask a pharmacist for that?

I didn't know baking soda could be used inside a DOCband. Abby has

been out of hers for a while now but I didn't know that was ok, but

I suppose as long as your clinician told you that, it should be ok.

Abby wore 2 diff. bands (first STAR then DOC) for about 8 mos total

time. She sees old pictures of her in her bands and says " that me

baby in my bike hat " , LOL she thinks it's a bicycle helmet :) LOL

then scrubbing the flakes off. I still had the head cleaning brush

from the hospital. I got all the dead skin off. I was afraid to do

this before. I was afraid it would irritate his skin and he wouldn't

be able to wear his helmet. His skin is a bit pink but no open

sores. I will let his head dry and clean his helmet. Then see how he

looks tomorrow. I went ahead and still gave him his prescription

medication. If it does clear up in the next few days, I may take

him to the pediatrician and ask him about stopping the medication. I

did notice did not start to scratch at his head when the

helmet was off. I think this may make him feel so much better!!

rubbing alcohol and it is 70%. I am also worried because my

orthotist told me to clean the helmet with baking soda. I did that

the other day. I hope it won't irritate 's skin. I am cleaning

his helmet extra thoroughly today with the alcohol. I hope I can get

all the baking soda off.

wear her band or helmet?Sometimes I call ours a helmet but it is

really a doc band.
