Guest guest
Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2001 16:51:31 -0800 From: Eccleston <KEcclest@...> Subject: Little and Philomena's Journey (That Their Journey May Not Be In Vain) Dear Friends, Please forgive me for not keeping in contact with you about little . I lost access to all of my personal email addresses on my home computer system in September, not long after sending you the September 10th update on . I have been unable to send or receive emails for the past two months. It was only just a few days ago that the problems with my computer were finally fixed. The last two months were very difficult for . Even though his tumors continued to be reduced by Dr. Burzynski's treatment, ' immune system was terribly compromised by the chemo treatments he had received. He was in and out of the hospital innumerable times due to repeated bouts with pneumonia. Finally, in the early morning hours of Monday, November 19, 2001, while in the loving arms of his mom and dad, shared with them that he was tired and that he was ready to go home to Jesus. After valiantly struggling for over two years against insurmountable odds, little peacefully ended his journey here with us and went on to be with the Lord. It was on November 17, 2000, that little Philomena returned to the Lord (almost a year ago to the day). Little Navarro's Memorial Mass was held at Saint Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, November 27th. His body was laid to rest in the ground at Earthman Cemetery in Houston with his little brother, , saying goodbye in the only way he could think of... With his little orange shovel he poured the soil of Mother Earth onto ' coffin and then laid a bouquet of flowers on top. Please keep ' family in your prayers. I know that they are struggling to understand the meaning of all this. And perhaps a part of the answer lies in a phone call that Jim and Donna received from Representative Dan Burton's office in Washington, D.C. on the day of ' funeral. The call was to inform ' parents that ' Bill is being reintroduced in both the Senate and the House of Representatives on December 13th. When this Bill is passed, children like and Philomena and other cancer patients will have the choice to try non-toxic alternative treatments first rather than being forced by the FDA to use the toxic conventional treatments. and Philomena made their journey here for a reason. May we open our minds and our hearts to the Lord for His guidance that we may do what we were sent here to do so that the Journey of and Philomena will not be in vain. Please see the note at the end of this message for suggestions on how to contact your House and Senate Representatives. Let them know how you feel about the tragedy of and Philomena's stories, how these little ones' stories are being repeated every day, and how you want the changes that ' Bill will bring about. If you wish to send something in ' memory, a monetary gift to his family in his name would be greatly appreciated. This is a very difficult time for the family not only emotionally, but also financially. If you so choose, please send your gift to: Jim, Donna and Navarro 2901 Elmside # 117 Houston, Texas 77042 For the love, concern, support and prayers that you have so selflessly given, ' family is forever grateful. God Love and Bless Each of You. In Memory of Little , you little traveler, you made the Journey - the long and difficult Journey. Your strength of spirit, Your joy for the gift of this life, Your fortitude, Your patience, Your compassion and your love Have touched our hearts forever, . And now, Little One, you have touched the wind and the stars And have come to rest in His arms. And now you know things we have yet to know. Pray for us, , as we continue on our Journey. Pray for us that we may know and grow in His Wisdom, His Compassion, His Love and Understanding. ****************************************************** How To Look up and Contact Your Congressperson: 1. On the Internet through the Congressional Directory: http://congress.nw.dc.us/citizens/congdir.html 2. By Phone: Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Senator's and/or Representative's office. *********************** What to Say or Write: (Phone calls and personal letters are the most effective.) As a constituent, I ask that you please support the Navarro FDA Patient Rights Act. This legislation gives patients, rather than the Food and Drug Administration, the power to choose the method of medical treatment that they want. The Act ensures that patients can choose their treatment, with full disclosure of treatment options from the FDA, and removes the FDA's ability to block access to treatments. The Act also assures that scientific research can advance based on safety and efficacy. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of the memory of Navarro for whom this legislation is named. The Navarro family, and millions of other Americans facing serious medical challenges, MUST have the freedom to choose the medical treatment they deem best.
