Guest guest
This doctor probably would say that he did not know any of the men on the list personally. Hard to believe that in 10 years of practicing urology with Kaiser he has never lost a patient to prostate cancer. They have such a huge volume of patients in our area. This is the same uro who told another friend that, if he had him do his surgery he had a 97% chance of remaining potent, and that the most a man loses in penile size after surgery is 1/4 inch. He sounds to me like an arrogant SOB. This is the uro Gregg was first assigned to see when he had his bladder cancer. Thank God he asked for a sooner appointment, got a different doctor and dodged this guy. Laurel > > > > I am sorry, if this wasn't so tragically pathetic, I would enjoy > laughing at the " MD? " . Guest guest
Wow... I'm feeling better about the treatment I'm getting locally. Dr. Ritter is a radiation oncologist, who specializes in PCa. I haven't compared the summary of the dose escalation trial to other types of treatment, but right off...95% disease free, using PSA nadir plus two more PSA tests is not a bad number. The SK nomogram gave me 5 years progression free figures of 89% for surgery, 92% for EBRT, and 83% for Brachytherapy. The sample is small, and it's all quite preliminary, but if they can do 95% consistantly, it's a winner. Problem is no long term results, cuz it just hasn't been...well...long term! I believe the rate of side effects compares well to protons, but like I say...I haven't compared them closely yet. My best, Dan

You may be interested to know that this company that you made me aware of, " TomoTherapy, Inc. " the manufacturers of the TomoTherapy Hi- Art Helical IMRT machine that you are considering using for your treatment, has licensed the rights to the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories/University of California proposed " Room Sized " Proton Accelerator.
