Guest guest
Hi Maggie, If the radical prostatectomy, then radiation to the pelvic area did not stop the cancer, then it is obvious that it must be systemic and growing in some other area of his body. If it were me, I would try to find a good oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer. If you are in the Los Angeles area, there are several. Dr. Mark Scholz, Dr. Tisman, Dr. Leibowitz, Dr. Lamm and several others are very good oncologists. All in the Los Angeles area. I wish you all the bestAubrey Pilgrim, DC (Ret.) Crawford is co-author of the revision Hi everyone:I am not new to the group. My husband was diagnosed with PCa last April and has been doing alternative therapy since. His Gleason was 3 + 3 and his PSA 3.79 at the time of diagnosis. It went up to 5.88 after the biopsy and stayed in that ranged gradually trickling down after a 4 week course of Cipro for prostatitis. His lowest score has been 3.66 and last month it was 3.98. His 6 month follow up showed no tumor growth, not even 1mm. We are continuing the current regime although I am concerned because he is slacking off a little on the supplements. He takes at least 40 some pills a day and I can't blame him. But, this is not about him. My good friend who is a urology nurse is married to a man in his 40's who had a radical Prostatectomy about 3 or 4 years ago. She thought, being a urology nurse that, that was his best chance for a cure. The cancer came back about a year or so later and he had external beam radiation to the pelvic floor. He seemed to be doing very well. He even encouraged my husband that he felt it was the right thing to do and that he would do it again. He had sexual function back. This past week, his PSA was .4. His wife is now terrified and doesn't know where to go with this next. Her boss, a urologist wasn't sure either. He is on new medications from his oncologist (can't remember their names). But, what else can he do now? They are interested in what we are doing-anything-he is only in his 40's. Alan and Aubrey, you have both been very supportive of me in this past year. Tell me what you think. Anyones input would be appreciated and I will pass it along to her. Thanks. MaggieThe year's hottest artists on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. AOL Music takes you there.
