Guest guest
In my mind, now has over 700,000 views, yet I dont think explains anything at all about AS beyond showing a few symptoms that are not universal amongst those with AS. He mentions music and makes us sound like a bunch of hypocrites, I dont tell other people they cant listen to their music because I dont like it. He mentions being immature, this is not something we all have problems with last I checked, although I do often have a childlike perspective I dont act like a child. Says some garbage about not being able to read. Something about AS being half autistic and half not, this really confuses me I dont understand how you can be half your brain working one way and the other another. Talks about watching childrens cartoons... *sigh* I have never been a fan of they type of cartoons he listed, infact I HATE those type, even as a young child I couldnt stand them. Only very briefly mentions or social skills problem, one of the keys to AS, which in my opinion should be stressed when explaining this to NTs because this problem is the source of many of our problems, or at least in my mind it is. Anyways my point is this video is watched by alot of people, is getting praised by some people with AS and in my opinion is spreading false information that is just going to hurt the AS community as a whole by giving NTs more of the wrong idea about us. Dont know about you guys and gals but I am personly not a hypocritical, immature adult that cant read. Not liking the idea that I have to argue with some autistics as well as NTs. Guest guest
I didn't care too much for that video either. I got the impression that he's just explaining what AS is like for him, not necessarily for other aspies. If people think he's explaining Asperger's for all aspies, they're wrong, but that's not the impression I got. If that's the impression most people get, I'd say that's poorly presented. I couldn't relate to the bit aobut half autistic half not. As for being childlike, I was more like the " little professors " that Dr. Asperger wrote about. I learned to read very early, before kindergarten, and I love to read and hate TV. The cartoon animations for some of the things he said are kind of cute, I guess he did that because he likes cartoons. I give the video a thumbs down, also. -- Joni --------------------------------- Got a little couch potato? Check out fun summer activities for kids.
