Yesterday I took all the boys for haircuts. By myself, which was

necessary because of the timing. Sissi, the wonderful angel, that

cuts their hair is very talented with a pair of scissors, but

yesterday the boys tried even her amazing talents.

was first. He will sit in the chair at nine without

assistance, but he still does not like haircuts. I don't like it

short. Don't make it too short. It itches when it's too short.

That tickles. Why does that tickle. I don't like that tickle

thing. No don't cut too much off. It's in my eyes. It's in my

nose. Are you done yet? I guess it's okay. Can I play my gameboy

now?

While was enduring his haircut was running up and down

generally being quietish, but not to be confused with quiet by any

means. He was momentarily distracted with paper and crayons long

enough to draw a few J's and an H or two which he then proudly

announced and needed to show me. Except I had to go to the table.

Mommy, come see! MOMMY! Come See! I saw. was next for a

haircut.

I sat in tne chair and held him as he was not entirely a willing

participant. Fortunately he changed his mind once we got started

which did make things easier, but I was not about to let him sit

alone. He was very squirmy although not too terribly so.

does not like the clippers, the feel of them or the sound. They

tickle and they buzz. Neither does he care for the sound of the

scissors. Then there is this ear thing that he has. He hates water

on his ears, or soap, or cut hair, and he barely, just barely

tolerates having the hair trimmed around them. Can you imagine some

day when he is a hairy grown man, and he WILL be hairy, trying to get

the hair trimmed in his ears. Oh yeah, I don't envy his future wife

or barber one tiny bit. Eventually we got him done, or at least

close enough. He escaped gleefully to continue his not so quiet

activities.

Meanwhile 's amazing patience was running out and the show in

the chair was not nearly as amusing anymore so was next for a

trim.

But first we had to catch J because he was running rampant and

pestering Chris.

Back to . He sat in my lap sweet as can be while Sissi trimmed

the bangs out of his face and the whispies that straggled longer than

the rest of his sweet baby hair. That was all for . He's much

to little for a big boy haircut, especially since he still has those

sweet baby curls.

Time to reclaim . Not that there were any other takers mind

you, but he was becoming quite wound up.

Next was my turn to get my bangs trimmed. Even though I have curly

hair they were threatening my nose so it was time for them to be

properly trimmed before I took a pair of kitchen shears to them.

at this point had exceeded acceptable limits of behavior so,

back into my lap he went. Actually it was more like in my lap, under

one leg with an arm around his chest and another for his mouth as

needed.

Sissi proceeded with my trim and even styled my bangs all while

successfully avoiding a struggling . They still look great

this morning, the bangs, not the struggling . She trimmed my

long ends and put all my hair back up in a knot with my hairsticks.

I periodically released 's mouth when he agreed to use a

quiet voice but only for brief periods of time as quiet voice

agreements are only good for one or two phrases from .

Fortunately I had cash in my pocket which negated the necessity of

writing a check. I tipped her too - she REALLY deserved it! We made

a hasty escape out the door with in one arm and in

the jogger. held the door open very nicely for us, with a

little prompting.

Needless to say, was the first occupant in the van.

We went home to find 's car at home, but not or the girls.

Presumably they were doing the paper route but I didn't find them.

Turns out that I just barely missed them. I went to Safeway to pick

up prescriptions with all three of the boys thinking the scripts

would all be ready. I was wrong.

Finally while I am paying for the scripts, (one arm, half a leg) the

cell phone rings and asks if we are coming home. is

supposed to meet her friends for skating in ten minutes and 's

car has a problem. AAAHHH, so THAT's why they weren't driving the

route. Seems the thermostat or water pump isn't working and the car

almost over heated. Goody. Our mechanic is closed on weekends.

I'd say I can't wait for the new year to start but the first thing I

have scheduled for the new year is a flight home to attend a

funeral.
