Hi , I could agree with you, supplements make such a difference in your diet

regardless if your eating the right foods, everyone should remember that with

this desease we have to give our bodies an extra dose of proper nutrients and

give it a boost so as to not let this desease eat up our system up alive.

Always reading your board , you bring encouragement to me, Thanks for your

positive aura.....God Bless!!!

Val.

I know I have told you this before but your diet is not like too many

others. Its not very realistic to think that too many people who have

MS or other diseases are eating like you. For this reason I don't think

that using fish or flax is being done in excess. I talk with alot of

people about diet and almost never do I run into people who even come

close to the diet you eat. So for most people taking just the 3's is

necessary to balance out their modern day diet. Almost every processed

food is going to be giving them omega 6 and 9, there of course are

people who this would not be true for. Anyway, just my observation in

the world I live in, and I live in a city that is really into health

food.

I would say both, you give your body the extra boost with these supplements

making the desease differcult to attach your body while your giving your body

amunition to fight back.

Hi ,

I teach exactly that, the DHA in flax has to be converted and most

people, especially those that are sick are not able to have this happen.

You would have to take alot more flax in order to get the necessary

essential fatty acids that so many are lacking. I recently started using

Krill oil and have not decided if I like it better or not, I find it

hard to tell any subtle changes that it might make. Prior to that I was

using Nordic Naturals and Natural Vitality, 2 really good brands.

Hi Velma,

I agree, I have many friends that I believe without their loads of

supplements would probably be much sicker then they are. I have one

friend who is now 70, when I got him started in to taking supplements he

could hardly stay awake. He had no strength to do his work and was soooo

confused all the time. He is Portuguese and eats all the traditional

dishes, lots of sweet bread, tons of potatoes and meat dishes, donuts,

coffee, you get the picture. His wife will not change the way she cooks

and thinks supplements are a stupid idea. She is currently taking 5 meds

for her heart and other problems and is younger then him. He was headed

for insulin shots 3 years ago, had extremely high blood pressure most

likely heading for a stroke and overall was in bad shape. He also has

arthritis in most of his joints and was hurting all the time.

Now his blood sugar is around 100 instead of 500, his blood pressure is

120 over 70 most days but his doctors still want him on drugs, he only

takes half of what they tell him to and not every day, and he works

still with heavy equipment and draft horses. His joints now only hurt

when the weather changes and or he has worked with the horses too much

and his mind is still pretty clear. He has lost almost all his friends

from heart disease or cancer and he tried to tell all of them about

supplements and they would not listen.

SO in my opinion watching him and several others like him, supplements

can and do make a difference even when a person continues in eating the

way they have always eaten that got them sick in the first place. Its

hard enough to convince a person like this to even take supplements let

alone change the way they like to eat, especially when its a man and his

wife cooks for him.

Blessings to you too Val, glad I bring encouragement, you should be

encouraged as your state of mind is so very powerful against this

disease!

Keep up with your positive aura responses which is great healing medicine. It's

the best antidote to start getting better in healing. Sometimes you'll

read some negative responses but remember that there is someone one who will

read your positive responses and take it in just like I have. I'm tryin to

remember where did I read about your email about cleaning myself out. Could you

refresh my memory or forward that email.

Hi Val,

Its people like you that keeps me coming back to these forums. I did not

have the internet when I was sick and I felt so alone. I don't know how

different things might have gone though had I come to a forum like this

and asked about the various things I was trying. I might not have tried

as many things as I did and who knows what the outcome would have been.

I just know how scared I was and also know that this disease is

reversible. Its up to the individual to find the right things that will

turn their disease around, so far no drugs that I have every heard of

will do that.

As far as cleaning out, I don't remember a specific post about that,

perhaps I was talking about doing a bowel cleanse??? I think that is the

best thing to do for those that have been toxic and are just starting to

clean up their diets. That is how I started, then went on to other type

cleanses.

Hi Dudley,

How do you know you are allergic to fish oil. I notice when I take

cod liver oil I burp a lot and the taste stays in my mouth--does this

mean I'm allergic?

Hi ,

My being allergic to fish oil is an assumption I am making based on my

being allergic to fish.

Based upon your reaction to fish oil, and until food allergy testing

clears fish for you, I would suggest you temporarily switch to flax seed

oil as your source of omega-3 fatty acids.

All the best,

Dudley Delany

, Thanks for the link. I am still concerned though that this and

presumably other hiqh quality fish oils have harmful things in them.

According to this link (see link below), the product has mercury,

lead, dioxin, and PCPs, measured in ppt units that are " below

detection limits. " I think it said, for example that it had 5 ppts of

mercury, which is considered below detectiion limits. But what

does " below detection limits " really mean? I would prefer they have

zero of these things, not just be below detection limits or 5ppts of

it. From what I read, even the most miniscule amount of mercury in

the body (or elsewhere) can be vastly detrimental. Now I am really

not sure what to do regarding fish oils. Perhaps what even these

higher quality companies say is safe is not. If anyone has knowledge

on ppts units and such or knows of a fish oil with zero mercury, zero

PCPs, etc, please share. See link below to see my concerns.

Hi Heidi,

Nordic Naturals is the brand that Dr. Nugent always recommends. He has

tested over 6,000 and counting food supplements over the years. He

believes that they have the best mercury removal process and the highest

quality. The Nordic Natural Plant is right here in my backyard

practically. Its owned by a very nice man who is from Norway and his

wife.
