ahhh, one of those dog people, huh?? haha. I actually had dogs all my life but it just struck me when you said you will never let your dogs down.

Now, this guy, is he living with you enough to help you? Because it sounds like you and the dogs need help. I'm 43 and am married to a wonderful man that helps all the time when he's home (he's a nurse, works 12 hour days so that's not a whole lot of time home) and I also have a hormonal daughter and 2 toddler boys. Things that you described sounds like me. My pain started in my neck and collarbone area, on the left side though. I'm on percocet and oxycontin, 80mgs a day and as much percs as I need. I have never been real active; at least as you have. No gym for this chick! haha. The tiredness seems to go with it. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is all part of this wonderful condition. yeah! something else to bog us down. But at least you've been diagnosed and thats the most important step. Now you can get help. Have you been given any prescriptions? For pain or anything else? You will need that. At least. I know that on this list you will find alot of help. We're here to answer your questions and to help you. Try to find a doctor that will give you meds; alot won't. I'm fortunate in that my doctors wife has fibro so he understands.

But you've come to the right place. Ask away and hopefully you will get some help.

questions

I haev been diagnosed with FMS. I am a 46 year old male. Two years ago I started having a burning pain in my arms and chest. This got really bad. doc thought 'heart' so that ball got rolling. admitted to hospital as emergency and told not heart but somthing was wrong with my neck as i didn't move it much. I can't move it much now-or rather it hurts to do so. anyway, i still had heart tests and found i had angina but 'silent' as far as i know never had any pain from it. anyway been to hosptial 3 times in icu and each time told not heart.I am confused. I am in some form of oain or aching all the time. i ofetn awake feeling like I am been run over or have the flu. I often feel like i haven't slept. I used to go to the gym all the time until 2 years ago. But I was always sore and very tired afterward and usually cam ehome home and went to bed! I now know this has been going on 10 years but no one ever really thought I had anything wrong and myself and my partner just put it down to stress that i was so easily exhausted and stressed! I had a long eterm illness in the 80's and have been on disabilty for bi polar since a teen. Not had any problems with that for several years now. Anyway, I have trouble knowing what is what. As i write this, i haev a dull ached in my sternum and shoulders. It isn't my heart. i ahev this for years and I took my gtn spray anyway and it is still there. I have bad pain in my bum since yesterday. i also get it in my feet(soles), calves, hips, arms, hands, in fact it isn't always easy to tell where. I get dizzy. I get a sick feeling. I pee all the time even when i limit my fluid intake.(I don't drink alchohol at all). My hands sometimes don't work. They either drop things or they feel weak(I couldn't light the gas on Sunday and had to undo my boots). My meory is terrible. i get confused. i stutter. i forget what i am talking about. i feel scared for no reason. i have irritable bowell tho that is much improved since i went low carb. I have acid problems but recently discovered that the pain i get in bed at night that i thought was acid only happens when i lay on my right side and goes the minute i move. acid medicine doesn't stop it. but a real acid attack is stopped in it's tracks by the medicine and can happen either when alseep or awake. I now use two wlaking sticks to het around and for support. I still walk my dogs in the morning. I used to do 2 45 mkin walks -one in the morning and one at night. now i do both in the morning(2 different sets of dogs). i take codiene first and don't use my sticks. i do both in the morning because i know that by the evening i can't do it. I am usually quite sore when I get back. My eye sight gets wrose late in the day so that even my specs don't help. since all this in the last 2 years I haev done more than ever. life is short. so i do what i want to do. i just drove to oslo, norway on the 12th and got back on the 21st. exhausted but had a good time and did waht i wanted to do. i try not to let this thing stop me doing as i wsih tho of course it does limit me.#My major reason for joing is to try and sort out what is the fms and what isn't. I get quite scared soemtimes wondering if this is my fms or am i having a heart attack? also as i haven't yet seen the speicalist, i was wondering if maybe i have MS. My hands not doing what i want bothers me. thoa friend with ms says only some of my syptoms fit anf my gp doesn't seem to think it is. When she did the pressure test, which i didn't know what she was doing, it hurt a lot and i told her 'of course it hurts when you dig into like that' and she told me she wasn't pusing hard at all. it felt like she was trying to force her thumbs into me.I'll stop as i know long emeials are diffiuclt to read. i hope i have made some sense, i guess because of the bi poalr and the heart diusease and this fms thing, it is just ahrd for me to know what is what and it gets scary. I feel pretty anxious a lot recently. i think it is beginning to dawn on me that is not somthing that will just go away and that i am disabled now. I worry that i will eventually not be able to care for my dogs. I still bathe all of them every week and they get excrcised and fed etc. No matter how bad i feell, i don't let my dogs down.-- bw colin

1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone.

Welcome Colin,

Wow you sure have been run the gauntlet... I sure hope your heart is ok... and all this worrying over the diagnosis is not good either.. i hope they tell you what is going on so that they can start a treatment program for you. Sometimes it is just better to know. I was diagnosed in June of this year.. but am sure as most that I have had FMS for far longer. I too was very active and am to some degree... but limited like you are. I also try to do what i want sometimes I have to pay for it later with the pain, but i still go to College, take care of the children, house, and my BF .. not to mention the yard work and such when it is nice out... now I have terrible Migraines that i been suffering with for the last too many days. Just wanted to let you know that you are welcome here and that you will get lots of information that you may or may not need.. but you have to sift through to know what you can use and what works for you. We cant diagnose you though that is up to the doctors, but we are here to help you in any way we can.. lend an ear, talk , or to cry with... or even to vent with when you just can't seem to take another day of the pain... Kwim??(know what i mean) anyway's welcome again and Hugs you ;) Hugs to the dogs as well :)

Welcome to the group:)

Tell us about your dogs! How many do you have and what are they? You do well to take them out when you rely on sticks. I can walk with sticks but not nearly far enough to walk my dog. I can take him out beside my scooter, but usually take him out in the car and let him run on open ground.

I said just the same as you when the doc pressed on me at diagnosis time, lol. I also have the same symptoms as you mention.. it does all seem to be part of Fibromyalgia. My hands don't grip well, do you sometimes find it difficult to hold the dog's leads?

I have 6 Lhasa Apso and 2 Miniature Longhaired Dachshund.

when i take them out, i do it without sticks but use codiene first.

I have dropped the leads a bit recently without knowing i had. So now i

wrap them around my wrists.

It still shocks me that it hurt so much when the Dr pressed my points.
