YES! i hadn't considered this as slow processing - I thought it was a

perception problem. It takes me forever to figure out what I am looking at -

whether in pictures, display cases, rooms of people, items on grocery and

harware shelves, you name it.

It drives me around the bend sometimes. I don't think that I've always been

like this - it is relatively new, I think, in the last three or four years.

Re: random visual images

I don't get these kinds of images- but I do have chromesthesia- that is,

synesthesia with colors for everything! (Except for facial recognition- sigh!)

I also process visual input slower than an NT would - and very noticeably slower

when tired- so that I can see something, and it will look like something else,

until a few seconds go by, and I have processed it completely. Meanwhile, my

brain is jumping to conclusions and reacting to the thing I " see " - and then, I

have to re-do everything when I see the corrected version! Fortunately, I know

about this, and have learned to deal with it, at least to some degree. It daes

not effect the location of things, so my driving is still excellent- and I still

react extremely fast to things in the road that are not where they should be,

for example. Does anyone else have this?

Does anyone ever get visual images just out of the blue (in my case,

especially when it is way past bedtime). I get images of dreams I

dreamed years ago, places I have been, things I saw when I was ten, and

other unusual stuff. It's kind of interesting. I saw a dream I had when

I was about 7, then I saw some things in the house we used to live in,

then I saw the inside of an old car I used to have (that had a mouse in

it).
