Yes there is. It is well-known that testosterone (T) nourishes PCa cells.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a metabolite of T and is several times as

potent as T.

There is extensive information on DHT on the authoritative and

encyclopedic website of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) at:

http://prostate-cancer.org/index.html

A quote from one article:

> T is carried into the prostate cell and interacts with the androgen

> receptor (AR) within the nucleus of the cell. T is also converted to

> dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a metabolite that is five times as potent

> as T in its effects on prostate cell growth.

Other authors hold that it is even more potent.

" Normal " range for DHT is 25 - 75 ng/dL. When treating for PCa, the less

the better.

It is controlled by Proscar or Avodart.

Although this doesn't specifically address a direct relationship

between " DHT " lvels and PC nor levels of DHT when you have PC, the

below URL explains a trial where a high ratio of estramustine-binding

protein (EMBP) to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) could determine low

progression-free probability compared to those with low ratios, and

concludes " The androgen-dependent property of EMBP tends to decline

with the transformation of prostatic tissue into biologically more

malignant disease. The tissue EMBP:DHT ratio before treatment may be a

good indicator of the individual malignant potential of PCs. "

Other that this ratio correlation between EMBP and DHT to identify

cancer that is likely more aggressive, it is recognized that reducing

the DHT level of men with prostate cancer is important to reining in PC

progression. This is usually accomplished with 5AR inhibitors

dutasteride/Avodart or finasteride/Proscar.
