Guest guest
Hi Hailie, I talked to and got the methadone withdrawal info. There are two things to try. 1. Go to www.theriversource.org and email them asking for a referral in your area. They do natural methadone recovery. 2. Find a pain management specialist in your area--they generally know a protocol for getting people off methadone. These are both things that have worked for other people. Guest guest
Thanks for the help. I tend to run from reality....so I just logged in today to see what kind of answer I could get to come off of methadone.Sad,huh?Tomorrow will HAVE to be my last dose. Not according to the clinic....but I simply can't drive that distance, afford the $70 a week, and also maintain a job, home and all my bills.I can't see any other way out than to just go cold turkey,ya know? Getting off opiates cold turkey in the past almost killed me physically.Of course I know that methadone isn't an opiate....but I wonder if there is gona be as much pain and confusion in my head like opiate withdrawal. If so....I'm scared to death!!! Gona go to the link you sent....but I'm not even sure I could afford a regular doctor/pain clinic or whatever.I thought there might be some kind of med that helps the withdrawal. Thanks for the link and all. In Withdrawal_and_Recovery , Kim <kdenise1111@g...> wrote: > > Hi Hailie, > > I talked to and got the methadone withdrawal info. > > There are two things to try. > > 1. Guest guest
Methadone withdrawal is every bit as bad as opiate withdrawal. I'm not sure how you're going to maintain your job, home and bills while in cold-turkey withdrawal, if you can't do it while driving to the clinic. The only HAVE TO about tomorrow's last dose is your own choice. That's not a HAVE TO; that's a choice. Don't fool yourself. You might want to consider doing the drive and the $70 a week for a couple weeks more while you investigate the options. Seems a little hasty to put yourself in abrupt, terrible, damaging withdrawal before you've investigated your options. You're right that you were running from reality--while there are ways to get off methadone, none of them are as simple as just taking a pill every day. If there were such a simple solution, why would there still be addicts? However, there ARE drugs that help with the withdrawal. It's a very specific protocol, which is why we suggested seeing a pain management specialist. They know about such things.
