Doug is a firefighter. Which means that his beeper

can go off at anytime and he has to run off. This has

happened in the middle of the night, during concerts,

family dinners, ... has never reacted before.

Sometimes he'll say " bye Dad " but usually he shows no

response at all, even if he's sitting next to (or on)

Doug when the beeper goes off. Last night, about 5

minutes after we put to bed, Doug's beeper goes

off. comes running out of his room, latches

onto Doug and screams " Daddy! Don't GO! " . He's crying

and shaking and we had to pry his fingers loose so

Doug could respond to the call. It took 20 minutes to

settle down enough to put him back to bed. I'm

sad and happy at the same time. I hate to see him so

upset, but I'm glad to see him react. Sigh.
