Hi Kathy - My son also got swollen lymphnodes on the bakc of his head

where the base of the helmet hit. Both my ped and clinician told us

that is was normal and they have since gone away.

Hi Kathy,

As you can see from all the responses, swollen lymph nodes can be quite

common during helmet therapy. The thing you want to make sure of is that it

goes away after is no longer wearing his helmet. One of my twins

(Sara) developed a bump while wearing her DOC band and I was assured that it

was just a lymph node. My pediatrician is very experienced with DOC bands,

so I felt comfortable with the diagnosis. However, after graduation the

bump did not go away. After further testing it turned out to be a dermoid

cyst that had to be surgically removed. I'm not telling you this to scare

you, just to encourage you to follow up with your ped if you're not

comfortable with it.

By the way, where in Seattle are you? We lived in Ballard for about a year,

and in North Bend for 5 years. Now we're in Texas - big change!
