Guest guest
Kathy, I'm so happy the new helmet fits. Thanks for posting this info, I know it will help someone in the future. Re: Kathy in Seattle with the Clarren helmet Sorry for the delayed response but we have been running back a forth the Children's. We got in on Monday for a quick evaluation and a few measurements. One side of the back of my son's head is much more pronounced and rounded than the other. At first the Ortho said that he would not be able to reach perfection in rounding out the back of 's head but they felt they would round out the less pronounced side so there was some symmetry. Well when we went back on Monday he said that he would make adjustments and thought that he would also round out the back more. To make a long story short it was too small for the shape of his head. He made an entirely new helmet that will (hopefully) achieve a perfect little head. Much better than the first helmet. The only down side he said was that would have to wear it another 1 to 1 1/2 months. I would tell all mothers of babies put in the Clarren helmet...if you don't like the shape that you are first told ask if keeping the child in it longer and putting them in a bigger helmet would achieve a better result. Had I known this in the first place I would have said make it 4 1/2 months helmet time vs. 3 months. If you are going to go through all of this it should be done right! Whew that was a mouthful. Needless to say I am sooooo happy with the new helmet (picked it up yesterday after Santa photos...I can get it on his head! I do have to say that the Ortho was VERY nice and made his new helmet in one day. I just wish I knew what questions to ask on the first go around. Thanks again for your help. I will keep you posted and try to get a photo out after the holiday. Guest guest
Kathy, It sounds like things are moving in the right direction. I'm so glad your orthotist listened to you and was able to help you. Guest guest
Thanks for your great update Kathy! I'm happy your orthotist made a new helmet and it's fitting him well. As for gettnig a perfect headshape, that is almost impossible, we all strive for as close to " normal " as socially acceptable. I hope he is on his way to a rounder more symettric head Yay.
