I have a doc that does the exact same thing. He'll lose track and say #5,

then he'll say #4 or #3 or he'll say #7 or whatever number I'm on.

Grrrrrrrrrr!

Diane, I have always wondered about this too. Then there's the doc who doesn't

start numbering until #5 and you can't figure out how to bring down the first

ones so that there are actually four above that one. I also have one doc who I

know wants things numbered, so I will start numbering whether he does or not and

then when he does start numbering, he will be at the right number, but will mess

up from there on out. Just keeps me laughing and on my toes. This also

presents a problem for the visually impaired transcriptionists who have to try

to figure out what number they are on all the time. I do love the automatic

numbering in Word, sure helps keep things straight. Margaret

Why do physicians bother to number anything they dictate?? They can't keep

track of the number they're on, it's just wasting their time!

For instance, this physician I'm doing now was numbering the past medical

history. She got to #5 and said #4, then started over with 4, then got to

#9 and said #6, then started at 6. Then, she got to #14 (this lady had a

long history of everything!) but dictated #10 and started there. The doc

was on #12 and I was already at #16, hehehe! Boy, it's a good darn thing

they are able to keep most of their numbers correct when it comes to the

lab values and drug dosages, but even that can be questionable sometimes!

Just a mini-vent!
