Guest guest
Rhonda, 's ST wants to show us how to use it with him at home..so we aren't doing different things with it and he gets confused. Since the holidays threw them off their regular schedule..we are going to go in soon and meet with her. She said he is doing great..and has really caught on quickly..hopefully we can begin using it at home soon..the other day decided he wanted an egg..so he went in the frige on his own..and brought one to me..unfortunately not before he sat on one on my bed..LOL! The PECS card would have been less messy! Mimi --- gfcfmom_73 wrote: > Hi there Mimi > > Its really nice to meet you. I myself am a huge fan > of PECS. Guest guest
That is WONDERFUL mimi!!!! Tommy used to do some crazy things like that.. its great to see them " thinking " of ways to make US understand!..lol Tommy is 7 now.. and he still uses pecs.. though not with pictures. He's picked up on reading.. though his comprehension is lacking a little.. he will use cut out words instead of pictures. Same concept as the pictures. Im so excited for you. This is the first time since we've lived on the east coast that I've heard someone mention PECS before. Its a VERY popular method in CA. As far as the cost for the seminar.. I THINK its roughly around $300 maybe? Im not sure because we lived in CA when I attended and out Regional Center paid for me to attend... so it was zero out of pocket for me. I am trying to make plans to attend this one however, to just UPDATE what I learned 4 years ago.. so as soon as I get the info on the seminar.. I will send it to you. Guest guest
Thanks, Rhonda. goes to the Jamaica Avenue BOCES, in Plainview..which is in Nassau County..and they are really big on PECs..in fact..they have the cards all over the school..they introduce it right away to all of the kids. 's previous school did not use it at all..and last year we felt he made very little progress as far as speech..which is his biggest problem..so we were really happy to get him into this school.
