Guest guest
Welcome to the group, We to live in the UK and our son has had a helmet fitted by Dr. Blecher, for just over 3 weeks. In the UK the NHS do not treat plagio, in fact they know of no treatment, they say it goes on its own or the hair will cover the flat spot. From what we belive, if the flat is still there when the baby is 4 months old, then the head shape will continue to grow in the shape that it is, so then helmet treatment is required to correct it. It is very upsetting in having to make decisions for your baby, when trained pead,s tell you that it goes, in the following months, you will become plagio experts. If helmet treatment is required, then Dr. Blecher will cast your babies head shape on the 12th Jan, it only takes 10 minutes and he is very good at it, take a camera if you have one, he insists on you taking pictures. He then takes the mould back to Germany with him, and then you get the helmet fitting 2 weeks later. Our son had 19mm assemerty after 3 weeks, he seems to be 50% better, but the first stage is quick they remainder will take time. If you have any questions you would like to ask us, then ring us on Tel. 01706 226075. We live near Manchester, we know how upsetting it is,we felt terrible. Good luck and congratulations that you realised that the NHS don,t know what they are talking about, there are so many parents out there who are very angry, that they listened to there pead,s and now have older babies who cannot be treated with flat heads.
