Guest guest
Trevor does a LOT of stimming throughout the day. He dances around flapping his hands with an intense look on his face and it gets to me after a while because he is shuffling his feet and that is all I hear all day and by evening I want to sit on him. I'm wondering if a trampoline or something would help him out. He is on Medicaid... Or does anyone have any suggestions as to what the heck I can do to distract him. I usually don't make him stop since he feels safe and comfy in his own world...but shew....my nerves are shot by evening because of the constant shuffling of his feet. We are still waiting on his OT to get done with his papers so that I can send them off to Cincinnati Department of Developmental Disorders. I'll have to ask for them when he goes back to school next week. She has had plenty of time to fill them out. Santa brought him some of those puzzles with the big puzzle pieces..he isn't interested in them. He used to love them. Would sit for a long time putting them together over and over. He used to love to color..not anymore. Santa also got him crayons and a bunch of coloring books. Any suggestions?? Thanks! Oh...by the way...Happy New Year!!!! Guest guest
: It does sound to me as if OT would work. Putter has a mini trampoline and about every two hours he goes and jumps on it as if he needs it and I think he surely does. Salli
Guest guest
I wish we had a tramp here too. Jacqui did something very interesting today, well not very interesting to me because I've learned how to deal with it. But she was tantruming...a good old-fashioned auttie meltdown, and I let her go. I explained her options to her calmly, and she actually was able to soothe herself by getting a piece of bubble gum, playing with her noise putty and planting herself on the computer. It's great now to be able to watch how she pulls herself out and be able to give her suggestions to do it. (Although this time she did it on her own, I just stood back and watched carefully) Penny
Guest guest
Do I need to talk to his OT about this? He's got so much energy I don't think he knows what to do with himself sometimes....so he is constantly hopping around, shuffling his feet and flapping his hands. And it is getting more and more intense. : It does sound to me as if OT would work.
