a lesson in consequence?

My ILs gave a beautiful set of Beanie Babies for Christmas. They were

paired animals and an ark. (Yes, I wasn't crazy about that, especially since it

had genesis and psalm verses on the tags...) He was just playing with them,

and I was running him a bath.

He LOVES colored baths, so he upended an entire bottle of orange food colouring

into the water. Then he came back and said something to the animals about

water.

I said, " don't put your animals in the bath. " He looked at me. I said, " they

will all turn orange. " Next thing I knew, I heard a gigantic PLOPSPLASH.....

" I'm sorry, I'm sorry, " he said to me. " You don't need to tell me you're

sorry, " I said. " You ruined your OWN toys. "

A lesson in consequence...or am I too hopeful?

You never know...:) I think you handled it great.

BTW, the Flood story is older than old...The very first written story,

Gilgamesh, alludes to it; and it is an old story even then. It doesn't need

to be a Biblical thing if you don't want it to be. Well, except for the

verses...but if they were in the tub, I'd assume the tags were removed...

I do understand your not being happy about it. Just trying to offer you

another way of handling it. :)

Jacquie,

I'm going with 'too hopeful'. He sounds too much like when he went

and did it after you told him 'no' and why he shouldn't. For your sake, I'm

hoping I'm wrong!
