Kate:

Hang in there, my friend. Things will get better. At least that's what I keep telling myself as I try to navigate around the house in this darn cast. Its almost comical to watch me, especially as I take care of my dogs. I have four little ones; two tiny Maltese and two equally tiny yorkies. All four are rescues, two are elderly, and all have serious health issues of their own.

Anyway, they refuse to go out in this harsh PA weather, so I must first bundle them up in their boots, sweaters and quilted jackets (complete with hoods). Takes me almost 20 minutes to get them (and me) ready, then when finally manage to get outside and set them down (they are so tiny they don't even do steps) they just look at me, as if to say, "you can't seriously expect me to squat in this, can you?"

I thought about becoming depressed yesterday morning, as I was home alone in the blizzard and my hubby was stranded at work (the interstates were closed till this morning in my area), but realized that there was nobody here to listen to me complain, so I snapped out of it and baked a cake instead.

Today my husband stayed home and spent the day plowing the driveway and shoveling the sidewalks and carport, and I think it was actually worse having him home, as he kept coming in to get warm.........making a huge mess each time he did so.

I see a neuro ophthalmologist at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia every six months, but must say that I don't think he helps me much. He does his tests and nods his head a lot, and tells me that I've had another bout of optic neuritis, that the vision has gotten worse, and that I need to get the MS under control so I don't end up going blind. His only solution so far has been to put me on the Rebif, and IV steroids each time there is a flare up. The steroids do help with the pain, but you have to decide for yourself if you want to risk the side effects from them. I think that some of the problems I have with my left hip stem from my continued steroid use over the years so I try to do without whenever possible. That's sometimes hard, since I'm asthmatic and often need the steroids in order to breathe.

Anyway, I do hope you feel better. If spring doesn't get here soon, then maybe the two of us can team up and go hunting for that darn groundhog who apparently got his latest weather forecast completely wrong!

Marge, thanks for this nice letter...Nice to read you...I can relate to--is it better to have him HOME or at WORK? esp. if the kids are around, and he...ah..just too depressing to talk about now...anyways...I forget--how far/close are you to Philly? Thought you were clear out near Pittsburgh? But you couldn't be, cause that would make no sense to go all that ways...hmmm. Did I tell you I'm originally from Upper Darby/Springfield, PA. My 2 older brothers went to St. Joes (go Hawks!) and then onto Villanova; my sis went to Wharton/U of Penn--my sis lives Germantown area of Philly. My brother is out in Souderton, kind of near town...Well, my eyes are drooping, and the pain is bad in the eye, and yes, you are right, don't want anymore solumedrol, i have compound fxs T11, 12-so, yeah, none of that junk for me, for now. I'll go back and see him on Monday, and hopefully all will be fine. This darn peri-menopause...gee wonder if they have statistics on women with it--as far as suicide or homicide...it really gets you raring! I'm telling you...I've never had such mood fluctuations in my life--not even post-partum! sweet well, my friend...and all my dear friends here-kateNOTE: Next time you want to google something, use: Goodsearch.com. There is an account set up for Grace Fellowship and all searches using Goodsearch (which uses Yahoo's search engine) will result in about one cent being donated to Grace Fellowship. Not much, but it can become significant if we and others we tell consistently use Goodsearch for all our searches. For example, 100 people using Goodsearch for two searches a day will net us $730.00 a year. When you go to the site just type in Grace Fellowship Orthodox Presbyterian Church as the benefactor. This is right below the search bar. You can also change the benefactor with each search and help other non-profits of your choice (if they have an account). Thanks for your consideration and God bless.
