Guest guest
This is a pet peeve of mine these days!! I am so frustrated about this since we try to eat organic etc and even with the added expense, it is not safe to use even the well known brands. I for one am ALL for convenience on occasion and with all the prep we have to do especially with children who are on special diets, I find it unacceptable that these " safe " foods are not really " safe " . We cook a lot from scratch but these days with parents working long hours without any choice and having so many unavoidable responsibilities, convenience foods such as canned organic soups and veggies are a huge time saver. Personally I do not have any time to cook in quantities any longer and freeze it or at least to do this on ongoing basis. Bottom line to me is that organic and other foods for that matter should be safe if they are sold to us as such! Sorry for my rant but I have a pantry full of " safe " foods that I use to supplement our meals and also a child who tends towards ADHD. Just wondering how much of it is linked!! Even if I wanted to cook all from scratch we still need some of the canned foods in order to make that happen unless I want to for instance make my own tomato sauce for chilli!! I wonder if the plastic that organic frozen foods are sold in are safe too! We buy organic veggies and fruits all the time frozen in our area since they are not available fresh or by consortium. We can't go back to what our grandmothers did in my house and cook it all from scratch so this is more than frustrating!! Off my soapbox this AM and off to cook some things that are most likely unsafe for our holiday party at our house later today! Geez! Have a great holiday! > > http://tinyurl.com/655jqr >
