Guest guest
The violet would be good, but if you have like monistat cream, or equal therof, what I would do is mix one part monistat, one part mild hydrocortison cream and one part bacitracin (mycitracin, etc) in your hand and then apply. This reduces the inflamation quickly, works on the yeast and prevents a secondary infection. Apply with each diaper change. A sitz bath with baking soda may be soothing as well. Good luck. Poor baby. Guest guest
Hi there everyone Its funny your brought this up.. because when Tommy woke up this morning.. he had something REALLY weird happening. We are just getting through the nights pullup free.. But this morning... when he woke up.. he came to me with his pants down, and says " HELP PLEASE " . The top of his weewee was like.. how do i explain this.. splotchy white stuff? Like, dry.... not goopy. Im not sure how to explain it. He also had like, yellow-whitish stuff in his pants.. that smelled really bad. It wasnt urin though.. it was kind of the texture of dried up paste. I havent a CLUE what it is.. and have just planned on waiting for Tommy's dad to come home from work to ask him.. maybe its a " Boy thing? " . Anyone have any clue? sorry for the BLUNT explanation.. Guest guest
Rhonda: Sounds like an infection of some kind (hey, you knew that!) Yeast is a good guess. Baking soda baths are soothing, but won't totally take care of it (although baking soda is good for getting rid of yeast). You might try Sara's gentian violent if you don't mind purple penises or the monistat that Dr. suggests. Salli
Guest guest
wonderful!!! Well, I should admit.. i am more at ease with it being an infection more than anything. I thought it was " something else " which I am SOOOOOOO NOT READY to deal with yet!..lol I've already called the doc to see what he recomends. Thanks for the advice! Guest guest
Sara, woke up this morning with the same thing. He is circ'd also but has extra skin on the bottom from where the doctor did a horrible job. Long story but this isn't the first time it's gotten a bad swollen forskin. I start off with a baking soda wash. Is it common for AS children not to let you touch there. screams and I have to hold him down. ( not a nice sight) Then I use lotrimn (yes the same stuff you use on your feet if you need it that is) if I think it's yeast. If it's not yeast I will use berts bee's daiper cream which takes it away most of the time. The baking soda is the key for us. I have used GV and then taken him to the doctor, most doctors know what it is but then again I lived where it was common for the hospital to still use this. I would allow him to walk around in cotton training pants or maybe cotton diaper with no cover if possible. won't let me do this anymore, he insists on having pants on. If I don't put his pants on he will go upstairs and find Pj's and scream till I put something on him. Hope it gets better soon _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Guest guest
THAT sounds like yeast, Rhonda...For us the OTC creams & even script Nystatin & Difulcan don't work, but Genetian Violet does, quickly. It can be hard to find but is very inexepensive, less than $2 for a bottle. But it's purple. Very, very purple. For some people it doesn't do squat. Yeast is a particular beastie. 's mixture is a good one if you can use those things. Give him a probiotic (or live-culture yogurt; Dannon is a good brand) and try to keep him away from sugar and refined grains. You can apply plain live-culture yogurt topically & it will be soothing as well as help kill the yeast; acidophilus eats yeast. Apply as often as he needs. You can't OD on the probiotioc; I give at least double the rec. dose for infections. Some vineger in the bathwater will help. You can use quite a bit in a tub or mix 1 part vineger to at least 5 parts water and rinse/wipe him with that. If the mix is too strong it will burn; if it does rinse very well with plain water and dilute the vineger more. But 1:5 should be fine. Otherwise try to keep it clean & dry. Be very consistant. Change his underwear frequently. Put 2 cups of vineger in the rinse cycle when you wash his clothes. Continue treatment for at LEAST FOUR DAYS after symptoms are gone or there is an excellent chance the infection will come back stronger than before. Good luck!!! -Sara. wife to Matt SAHM to nurslings Mikey, 9/14/99, Autism, and Gabe, born at home 5/17/01, GERD http://home.earthlink.net/~thebyks > Re: Swollen, red foreskin - excuse > cross-post please > > > Hi there everyone > > Its funny your brought this up.. because when Tommy woke up this > morning.. he had something REALLY weird happening.
