Guest guest
Do you think he's understanding the danger and is scared Daddy will get hurt? Or is it just wanting Daddy home? Either way, his awareness of it is a good sign (although not fun to deal with) Kerri reacts to a fire call Doug is a firefighter. Which means that his beeper can go off at anytime and he has to run off. This has happened in the middle of the night, during concerts, family dinners, ... has never reacted before. Sometimes he'll say " bye Dad " but usually he shows no response at all, even if he's sitting next to (or on) Doug when the beeper goes off. Last night, about 5 minutes after we put to bed, Doug's beeper goes off. comes running out of his room, latches onto Doug and screams " Daddy! Don't GO! " . He's crying and shaking and we had to pry his fingers loose so Doug could respond to the call. It took 20 minutes to settle down enough to put him back to bed. I'm sad and happy at the same time. I hate to see him so upset, but I'm glad to see him react. Sigh. Guest guest
I honestly don't know. We've explained Daddy's job to him and he's been to the firehall many times, but it's so hard to figure out what he understands. Guest guest
Yeah!...It sounds like a good sign that he is more aware. But, you're right...that would be tough to deal with. Especially for Doug, who certainly doesn't need to be distracted by feelings of guilt when he is fighting fires. I hope you are able to make him understand that he has to go to help people and will be back home when he is done. Good Luck!
