Guest guest
Hi Rhonda and welcome to the group. I admire you for being a teacher! i would never have the patience for that type of work. I'm sorry you had to find us due to the pain and fatigue of fibro but I hope we will be able to give you support and a shoulder to lean on when you need it. Guest guest
Hi Rhonda! I too am a teacher. I was diagnosed last May although I think I've had fibro for awhile. Teaching is tough for us with fibro. Good luck with your fibro management and your teaching. I hope everything works out well for you. in KS > > > Hi everybody, > > I have been reading a lot of the posts here and this group seems > very supportive. I joined yesterday. Guest guest
Welcome Rhonda, Glad to see ya in the group.. sorry you have so much problems with the FMS and such. But this group is a great place to come and vent, cry, talk, chat, yell, and just be. We all understand and are here for each other.. Hope to get to know you better and again welcome Huggles you lots Sophia -- New here Hi everybody, I have been reading a lot of the posts here and this group seems very supportive. I joined yesterday. I have been living with fibro for years. I was diagnosed in '91 as a freshman in college by a rheumatologist(sorry if spelling is bad). I suffered with fatique, and aches and pains for years as a teen. Most of the time, my fibro is under control. I do chiropratic care once a month, massage as needed, along with vitamins and herbs. I am generally able to work a full-time job, up until the last few weeks. I have been married for over 10 years and have 2 dogs, four house rabbits, and a parakeet. I would love to have kids, but my husband is not ready yet. I am an art teacher and have been having a hard time with my job. I was on edge for six months because I did not know from March until August if I would have a job or not. I was called back two days before school started to teach part time, high school ceramics and crafts at one of the toughest schools in the system. Then the school board added three elementary schools to my schedule in September. They finally reinstated me to fulltime status as of Monday. I have missed a lot of work in the last two months due to fatique, depression, and utter frustration with high school students. I finally went to my regular doctor for help with the depression. She put me on lexapro. I could not function and had so many side effects I quite taking it. I am feeling better after sleeping for almost two weeks instead of going to work. I am also not fighting the side effects of the antidepresent. I also found out the other day that I can apply for tenure as a teacher and have a 50/50 chance of having a teaching job next school year. I talked to my chiropractor today and he gave me the name and number of a holistic medical doctor. I have found that vitamins and herbs work better for me than traditional medicine. My husband has not been understanding in the last two months due to his financial fears and other things I am not sure of. My Mom has lupus and tried everything her rheumatologist gave her until the side effects of the drugs were worse than the lupus. She found what vitamins helped her, and then found chiropratic care around '94. I decided to use alternative treatment with my fibro and most of the time it keeps the symptoms under control. If things are jumping around, I apologize for that. I look forward to getting to know everyone. I was amazed at the amount of posts my first day in this group. I hope everyone has a blessed day. Guest guest
Sophia, Thank you for the welcome. This group does seem very supportive. I am just trying to keep up with some of the readings of my digest email. I am starting to feel better now that the drugs are out of my system. It is really nice to be in a group that is understanding and has similar situations. I look forward to learning about more from everyone. Guest guest
, It is nice to know there are other teachers in this group. I think most of us are living with symptoms before they actually diagnose us. I think once I get my symptoms under control again, the teaching will get better. I just know high school is not my age. I teach in four schools, one high school and three elementary schools. It is hard to know if I am coming or going. I just hope I am in two elementary schools next year. How does the fibro affect your teaching? I find I have to come home almost on a daily basis to take a nap. Thanks. I discovered my autism almost 2 years ago (I'm 40), I usually refer to myself as autistic as well, but I'm somewhere around the " aspergers " end of things. Sounds interesting, what you're taking/planning on doing. a

Guest guest
Hi , Welcome (and welcome to anyone I have missed in the last month or so... I never mean to NOT welcome anyone). I hope you will enjoy the group. For me it was absolutely astounding that everything that I am has been experienced by others on the autism spectrum, and that so many things other than those " 3 core deficits " are shared by us, both unique strengths and areas of challenge. Parenting as an autistic person is certainly challenging. My son is NT, I think, although he seems to have a few autistic-like traits. One thing he has been since birth is VERY SOCIAL. Whereas I am NOT. I SUFFER through events that he needs to go to. Sometimes I realize how much I love this kid, because I would NEVER go to a gathering for eight hours like I did today. He had a lot of people he needed to see, that have all moved away but still like him and he likes them. So I gritted my teeth and stayed as long as I could, with some help from one friend who watched him while I took a walk to settle down.
