Adri,

Green beans or wax beans are okay. Beans like refried beans or pork

and beans are absolutely out. Carrots aren't too bad if raw because

of the fiber count, but the fiber breaks down if cooked and they are

then high carb and not on the list of okay veggies.

So you may be okay and maybe not okay depending on which beans you

are talking about and how you eat your carrots.

Hope this helps,

Jean

Adri,

My first suggestion to you would be to drop the wine all together for a

month and see what happens. And secondly, I'd add a serving of low carb

veggies at lunch time, as well.

I bet you'd see that those two things might work for you.

I hate being the only one who ever defends carrots...(doesn't anyone else

eat carrots?)

But, carrots are actually pretty low carb.

1/2 cup chopped raw carrots have 5.5 grams of carbs (less than 4 grams if

you subtract fiber)

1/2 cup chopped cooked carrots have 8.19 grams of carbs (5.62 if you

subtract fiber)

Depending on your CCL and what else you want to eat, carrots can easily be

a part of a low carb diet.

I know green beans have already been defended to death in different posts,

but they are also very low carb in case you missed the previous posts.

Hope this helps,

Wen

Yes, I also eat carrots, in moderation, as well as green beans. I think

most of the problem for many of us is that we have a hard time learning what

the word " moderation " means!

I confess Wen. I eat carrots! Their carb count is a little higher than

some other veggies, but that just means the portion size has to be adjusted

slightly.

I eat a wide variety of veggies because I am a veggie freak. Every night we

have steamed veggies, usually 5-6 kinds, and carrots are often in there

because they taste good, store well, and are a great source of vitamin A and

beta-carotene.

Sometimes I even *gasp* have carrots for breakfast because I eat it in the

car these days in the wee hours of the morning and I find that crunching on

carrot sticks is a great way to stay awake ;)

Hi K,

By the way, where did the word " Sheila " come from, I hear it alot from

those down under and always wondered.

I am curious how the first attack turned out and what did doctors tell

you then? You have to ask yourself what do you want in your future. If

you are going to go with doctor and drugs then you should probably go

soon. If you are choosing to start peeling away at the reasons why you

have this disease and fight it naturally then you can just start today

with that journey. Its your choice. We are here to help you with the

natural approach if that is what you wish.

K,

I'm newly diagnosed too. My left side got really 'fuzzy' so that I

was wondering if I was having a mild stroke. My left hand has gone in

and out of typing ability over the course of the last year.

As with everyone on this site, I can only tell you what I've been

doing - YOU need to decide what is best for YOU.

I have found slowing things down to be of the most help to the working

of my hand (and over all). That's the de-stressing part. I also went

on Rebif after my second opion Dr. vist. I think it has helped my

over all condition. I also started eating healthier (within my

knowledge) and am now looking into which therapies talked about here I

will research and possibly try. Doing my own PT for my hand has

helped a lot too for regaining ability. I'd broken that wrist several

years back and used the strengthening exercises I learned then.

I wish you the best of luck!
