(this was a very small dog) Is the dog fixed? That is the main way to cut down on marking territory by peeing. You may be best off using a crate and confining him to non carpeted floored rooms for the time being. kandie Kandie and (9 years) * 's website: spage *
Guest guest
Penny, is your dog crate trained? If he is, put him in the crate while you are gone. We did this with our dog when she was a puppy and untrustworthy. She loved her crate and would get upset if Jake crawled into it. If this doesn't work, try putting her in one room. That way, he is limited as to where he can damage. If you have a room without carpet, even better. Use vinegar to eliminate the smell. Also, if you can catch the dog in the act, squirt him with a water/vinegar mixture. Dogs hate vinegar. Good luck. Guest guest
Yep- He is neutered. Been that way forever. (well, not forever, lol) He IS getting old though, so I'm not sure. Confining him to a room might be the answer Penny
Guest guest
>>>You may not believe this, but there are some dogs that have an anxiety disorder and pee when left alone.<<<< ----Oh I DO believe this. I'm the one with the pic on the site of the " neurotic dog " We do have a crate. It's a travel crate. I just don't know how well it would work. He howls endlessly when we leave and I'm not sure WHAT would happen if we crated him. Thanks for the suggestions...... Guest guest
Penny, Have you had him checked for a urinary tract infection? Also, has something been changed that may have him upset? Also, if it's a large dog, senility could also be causing it, especially at that age. I'd start with the urine check though.
