I hope you don't mind my asking, Salli -- since I am frequently awakened

throughout the night by one child or the other, I generally don't have 4

straight hours of sleep after which to take my basal temp. What's the

solution?

I could go with just cervical & fluid changes but those are pretty weird

lately...fertility just starting to return & who nurses how much changes

daily...also some cycles I don't ovulate, and some I ovulate twice; it is

nice to have the temps for that to know what's going on.

Thanks! :)

Sara:

You will probably be fine just taking your temps in the morning; you are not

the only person who has asked that question. Ideally you would take your

temps after your longest and best sleep each day, but sometimes you don't

want to take your temp at four a.m. Tuck it under your mattress and take it

when you feel you have really got a good solid sleep. The biggest mistake

would be to take it after you have been awake for awhile.

Most people this will work for but if it doesn't work for you, i.e., you get

charts that aren't readable, then let me know (off-list) and I'll see what I

can do either to read your charts or to figure out a plan that works for

you.

Wow -

That's amazing Salli...and very interesting!! (Really, I wasn't bored). My

question is...when would one have TIME to make a baby anyhow?

I'm impressed how much you know about you're body....I really do admire you.

Sue:

That statement is the truth for most people. And there is a slight, very

slight in my opinion, but slight risk even for people with good fertility

awareness. My mother believed that you could not get pregnant while

breastfeeding and was pregnant three months later. She was nursing on a

four hour schedule which is not a schedule that keeps fertility gone. If

someone knows nothing of fertility signs then they should do exactly as you

did. But with knowledge and experience you can do things very differently.
