Guest guest
I am aware this is a Withdrawal and Recovery site. can you recommend any type of remedy to help with concentration. My son is in 5th grade and appears to be having problems with distractibility and concentration. The school has of course recommended he see a doctor for ADD perhaps. Of course, if I take him to the doc they will want to put him amphetamine based meds which in my opinion will lead to addiction. This is an excert from the special needs coordinator: , Because of the distractibility issues, it may be a good idea to have a doctor take a look just to rule out ADD. If Zack does have ADD, I think it would be very mild. At this point, I'm not sure if he's just quiet in class and doesn't volunteer answers because he's a fairly new student. When I see him in unstructured settings at school such as at recess, transitioning in the hallways, lunch, etc. he seems to get along just fine with other kids in his class and interacts with them, so I think he's adjusting well to making friends. I do have concerns, however, with him being distracted. I know that Zack is a bright kid and is very capable of doing the work presented to him. It also concerns me that when he's called upon in class, most times he will not answer the teacher. So again, I'm wondering if he's not always " tuned in " to what's going on at the time. Sometimes when he's called upon, he's not even on the correct page in the textbook to be able to find the answer asked of him. Any suggestions or a redirect to a more appropirate website with alternative/nautral treatment recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Could these issues be corrected with fish oils? Thanks so much , LMSW
