Guest guest
Hi again. Thanks so much for your responses. I have looked at him from all those views and in the mirror. I can only really see any eye assymetry in the mirror. Here are some pictures I took today. You can see that the flat spot isn't that pronounced, but he has moderate forehead bossing. http://www.karlinlinde.com/jan30html here is a picture from october. You can really see the cheek assymetry, which seems to have gone away now...you can also see some forhead bossing. I never took any top pictures then, because I never thought to. The most pictures I look at, the more I see he has indeed improved. I can't believe I didn't notice it before. http://www.karlinlinde.com/bathoct.jpg compare that to the first picture I showed you. Yes, his head is tipped slightly in this picture. http://www.karlinlinde.com/rugbaby1.jpg We do have a Hanger located in my city, and my ped. did mention " helmets " at our 2 month visit...but he really didn't seem concerned and told me lots of babies have that and just grow out of it. I have a feeling that we can get treatment here. I go back to him on Monday so I can get a referrel to a specialist that is hopefully covered by our ins.(we have federal blue cross blue shield). My husband is a little concerned about cost because we have had to fight our ins. lately to get Duncan his Synagis (RSV shots that cost $1300/month for 6 months). We also are in the process of buying a house...so it's all a bit stressful for us. I have seen in the file section that people are having some success with fed. BCBS, so that is some hope. I really do think Duncan is the most adorable thing I have ever seen, and even if he doesn't get treatment he'll look good. BUT, I am his mother, so I really can't be objective about his appearance. I want to do what's right for him, and it's really distressing me. Has anyone seen any research about untreated plagio? I want to treat him, but I was just curious is any of the " grow out of it " statements have any basis in truth. Thanks again for your responses and support. My husband thinks I am " obsessing " over this...but I know there is a time contraint for treatment, and I want to be a good mom. Guest guest
Hi Karlin, Duncan is so adorable. Some babies do round out on their own, most don't. No one can tell you if YOUR baby will be one of the lucky ones whose head corrects itself. There are 2 studies you might be interested in look in our files section, scroll down to the folder: Plagio Studies and Research in there is a study : Pediatrics Long Term.htm The other one is here: http://www.cranialtech.com/ParentsArea/researchArticles.html Scroll down to: Importance of early recognition and treatment of deformational plagiocephaly with orthotic cranioplasty. Keep us posted. --- In Plagiocephaly , " karlinlinde " <karlin@r...> wrote: > Hi again. > > Thanks so much for your responses. I have looked at him from all > those views and in the mirror.
