Because if he hasn;t tried this method, he has no business suggesting that you do it this way. And this is the WORST WAY POSSIBLE to get off this drug. Slow and steady reduction of no more than 5 - 10% every few weeks is the ONLY way to ditch Paxhell. Your neurologist has embarked you on a chemical rollercoaster ride that will cause you much suffering if you continue to follow his ridiculous advice. Guest guest
I f you have a 20 mg tab you would quarter it take 15 mg and then crush the last 5 mg and put it in 5oz of club soda and dissolve it and pour out 2 oz of it. Guest guest
Alternatively, you can crush the whole tab, dissolve it in 10 ounces of spring water or seltzer water, remove one ounce with a measuring syringe (available in most pharmacies for giving liquid meds to children), and drink the rest. You would stick with this dose for a couple weeks, until you feel stable, then we'll figure out the next reduction. -- Visit my art blog at http://kimdenise.blogspot.com/. Guest guest
Hello everyone. It has been awhile . . . Just writing to let you all know what is happening re: Paxil distribution (at least in the West). Some pharmacies no longer sells the scored Paxil tablet, while makes it difficult for some to split their dosage. What more, the pharmacis won't slpit the tablets either. A friend who wasn't paying attention who had weaned down to 5mg went back up to 10mg unintentionally because of this marketing ploy which pharmacies say is for saving them money. My friends experience happened at a K-Mart. - Each of you are my Hero. Keep up the great work in alerting people to the dangers of SSRI's.Kim wrote: Alternatively, you can crush the whole tab, dissolve it in 10 ouncesof spring water or seltzer water, remove one ounce with a measuringsyringe (available in most pharmacies for giving liquid meds tochildren), and drink the rest. You would stick with this dose for a couple weeks, until you feelstable, then we'll figure out the next reduction.--Visit my art blog at http://kimdenise.blogspot.com/."Thanks to my work everything's going well" --Claude MonetTo Purchase Supplements at discount:Swanson Health Products<ahref="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=huXTs6tQbr8 & offerid=52520.10000043 & type=3 & subid=0"VitacostSave Up to 75% on Vitamins. Guest guest
Thanks, But does the pill dissolve uniformally in the club soda? Guest guest
It's not absolutely precise, but works better than shaving little tiny bits off the pills every day. Stir it well. This works for a lot of people. It's important that you are taking regular Paxil and not Paxil CR. If you are taking Paxil CR, you CANNOT divide the pills. This is really important. EXTENDED RELEASE FORMULAS OF ANY DRUG CANNOT BE DIVIDED IN THIS WAY! Guest guest
Sam, I crush and dissolve pills in club soda, then stir for a minute. I don't know how uniform it is, but I have been using the same method for months and I think it evens out day by day. It has worked for me. I use 1/4 pill and crush first then dissolve in 2 oz of club soda. The skin on the pill does not dissolve but I don't think that matters. Then I use a teaspoon to take out what I don't want. There are 12 teaspoons in 2 oz. So I have been reducing by 1 more teaspoon every 2 weeks. This is just me. It is not very scientific but it is easy and has worked for me. I am down to my last 4 teaspoons of Zyprexa. BTW I use a shot glass from Walmart that has the ounces printed on it. Yahoo! Photos – Showcase holiday pictures in hardcover Photo Books.
