" What are the best things about being antidepressant free? "

Nice question !!

Health wise, I am no longer diabetic! I no longer have a diagonsis

of PCOS, I no longer vomit all the time, or have diarrhoea, my

anxiety is heaps less, I no longer feel depressed. I no longer have

odema........I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture!

I feel love again, I am able now to give and receive it, when I was

on the tablets I was a zombie..........I felt nothing, I slept all

the time. There was joy is nothing.

Now I find joy in everything............I felt alot of joy simply

emailing DL last night, talking to her. I feel joy again watching

Toby ( my lab), everything , everything now brings joy and

happiness and its just great.

It is worth more than anything being off the crap , I am

certain Glitter and J, and Co, can share lots more with you on this.

With Love

Hi Kelley, I wasn't on anti-depressants, but I am almost off my anti-psychotic. Like , I feel joy again. I can be around people a little bit now. My energy is 100% better. My mental functioning and memory are 100% better. I am sharp again. I can handle complexity. My ankles are almost normal most of the time. Not constipated anymore. As for withdrawal, still have insomnia and minor nausea, but the anxiety is mostly gone. The main thing is that I feel like I am alive in a way I never was before or during the drugs. I think I must have desperately needed the fish oil and other nutrients. I also credit my recovery to a sugar-free, wheat-free, protein-filled way of life.

makes an excellent point here:

<<The main thing is that I feel like I am alive in a way I never was

before or during the drugs. I think I must have desperately needed the

fish oil and other nutrients.

way of life.>>

**It's not just about getting off the drugs. Although that alone will

make a difference, in order to recover from what the drugs have done

to you, and to correct whatever imbalances caused the symptoms that

led to the drugs in the first place, you need to change your diet and

take appropriate supplements--not just for the period of withdrawal,

but forever.

This program is about getting healthy. When you get healthy, you feel

better. We are not taught how to be healthy in our culture, which is

why so many people end up on the drugs.

Ditto, -- I am no longer " diabetic " either!!! Every single word you

say is true of me too. I came off Prozac, Lexapro and then some. I've

been off all psych meds since July, 2005, and I've never felt better. It

is so incredibly much worth it to Hang In There! Hugs, Sally

I'm obviously late jumping in here, but happened to catch this post from . I can echo everyone's responses about increased physical and emotional health, about no longer being part of a horrid bureaucratic system that is mind-numbing, financially greedy, soul-stealing, and about being able to *feel* again. said: <<Now I find joy in everything............I felt alot of joy simply emailing DL last night, talking to her. No broken "D" string will stop her now............she's on a

roll, spreading encouragement and cheer like so many others here. If that's not good enough to convince anyone to get off drugs, I don't know what is. , I thank you for asking the question, and I hope you'll continue to find inspiration from the many wonderful people here as have I. DL
