Guest guest
Hi G. I was on Tegretol for 10 years which is almost the same as Depakote. Nothing wrong with making sure you don't double-dose. I did take a double dose of tegretol once and it was horribly freaky. I was really careful after that. Anyway, once I got off the Tegretol, my mental functioning and alertness started to improve a bit. I was still on two other drugs, but I could still see an improvement. It sounds like the Paxil is the drug you are tapering first. It is important to just do one drug at a time. As for multi-vitamins, there are two recommended here. One is the Total Body Toddy. It is listed in the Files and there is info on ordering it. It is good to get the mineral toddy with it. Also there is the Living Multi by Garden of Life. It can be ordered from www.vitacost.com and several other sites. Yahoo! Shopping Find Great Deals on Holiday Gifts at Yahoo! Shopping Yahoo! Shopping Find Great Deals on Holiday Gifts at Yahoo! Guest guest
Dear , You said: <<I was on depakote for almost 10 years with paxil. But before that I was on Lithium and mellarill for 4 years . Can anyone tell me what my body was depleted of and How I can fix it? Can I take a multi vitamin to correct some of these things even still working on getting off paxil? Since I have been getting off my med's I have been so paranoid it is unreal I am counting pills all the time even vitamins cause I think I might have taking to many or something it is driving me up the way. I wanna be able to remember and think again cause this is such a freakie feeling. I did look in the files I didn't see anything on depakote or mellarill IF I over looked it I am sorry.. I am just having one of my weird days and kinda needed to talk to you guys about it cause I know you guys can help me to feel much better. You always have since I joined the list..>> ** All psychotropic drugs deplete numerousd nutrients; however, chances are you were already depleted in several which is why you ended up on the drugs. Nutrient deficiencies in yhe U.S. are more prevalent than is reported. Deficiencies come from a number of sources -- pharmaceutical drugs, lack of a healthy diet, environmental pollution, lack of assimilation due to enzyme deficiencies, and deficiencies passed on from mother to child in utero. Because of so many factors, there is no way for us to tell you what your deficiencies are. What we DO know is that people who extensively utilize high quality supplements and eat whole, fresh foods recover more quickly and fully than those who don't. The recommendations for a supplement protocol are generic only. Protocols geared to the individual are given in private consults after gathering enough information about them to understand what they need. Guest guest
No I haven't asked them about that. I will call tomorrow. But I was felt much better on 2.5 on about the 7th day. The only thing that makes me afraid is the blanking out and confusing thoughts and sometimes I forget simple things and nightmares. The nightmares used to be every time I closed my eyes to sleep but they are only every now and again now. I am somewhat tired. But other than that I seem to function fine during the day time and everyone around me says I am acting much better and that I seem happier and brighter. But I do feel so much more stable than 4 weeks ago at 5mg. About the detoxing tea when would be a good time to start that. Where I was on depakote for 10 years I know my liver must be messed up some and I just want to heal myself so I feel better. If the pharm. can't do anything what would be best to do? Guest guest
Dear , Have you tried speaking with the pharmacy (in person)? Most will front people what they need in cases like these. How long did it take you to stabilize at 2.5 mg? BTW, you don't want to be detoxing. That only hastens the drug outb of your system. That's not a good idea right now. Guest guest
Hi G, Many doctors have samples of various drugs. I would ask all the doctors you know, and get the meds you need. I wonder if the emergency room would give you a few days worth. I have read hundreds of paxil nightmare stories on this list. I don't think you want to put yourself in a cold turkey situation. Yahoo! Guest guest
No I am not taking DHEA. I have read about that causing that problem. It just started when I was put on the chemical meds I described. And I was really hoping my body would get back on track if I got fully off the meds. Do you think there is a chance it could be corrected? My doctor told my I had PCOS But I requested my labs and everything was in normal range and I was confused thinking maybe it could have been the meds that induced it? Because like I said everything was what I would call normal till I started taking the meds. G
Guest guest
G You aren't taking DHEA are you? This is available at the health food store and could cause what you described. Yahoo! Guest guest
These drugs affect the body in all kinds of ways, because they manipulate neurotransmitters and neurotransmitters are involved in everything that happens in the body. This is why you hear of people having so many bizarre symptoms while on the drugs or going off them. They are really not safe for human consumption. Hormonal changes are quite common. As you get off the drugs, the problem will gradually correct itself. Because you are on a number of drugs, your situation is more complex. Because it is difficult and incredibly time-consuming to handle complex cases in an email format, (the group owner and the real expert here) does private consultations by phone. You can find information about consultations in the Files, here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Withdrawal_and_Recovery/files/, and I will also post the information in a separate message for all our new members to see. Guest guest
I quit taking my meds just before thanksgiving and right after I quit I got my period right away then again in two weeks, then again in about ten days, now I've had it consistently for about a month, I also have severe itching,,, Sandy -- Re: Question "My doctor told my I had PCOS But I > requested my labs and everything was in normal range and I was confused > thinking maybe it could have been the meds that induced it? Because like I said > everything was what I would call normal till I started taking the meds.> > G"Hi ,Mine are exactly the same as what you describe and I to was told for year I had PCOS.........except I can't because all my hormone levels are normal. The endocrinogist has finally said I dont have PCOS. My periods stopped a month after I started paxil.I've been off everything now for 17months and they aren't back yet!! Used to be as regular as clockwork.I'm going to see how much is back to normal in 5years time. But my guess, is that your symtoms are the same as mine and are durg induced. With Lovex
