Guest guest
Hi . I have to agree that stearates are toxic. We did lots of investigation of excipients in this group and in Green_Group awhile back when we were discussing whole food vs. synthetic vitamins. Magnesium stearate and stearic acid are not desirable because of the way they rob to pay . It doesn't help to take nutritional supplements if the filler is killing your T-Cells. Stearic acid is also made from animal fat. How good can that be? I would check into thyroid issues regarding your hormones. I'm taking Modifilan, a seaweed extract, that contains iodine. I've seen lots of improvement from that lately. Iodine is necessary for thyroid and thyroid is responsible for many functions, including hormone production. I recently posted some information on virgin coconut oil and thyroid that might interest you. trekkie323 wrote: Hi again and others interested in this topic: On my brief search on the web tonight, I read several things indicating stearic acid is safe. However, once again this seems to be a gray area. Here is something I read indicating it is not safe-- Below is an excerpt from Bob Marshall's website (He's a health care expert with a radio show who's been getting a lot of attention lately): --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? Guest guest
Hi Arlene. Stearic acid from vegetables comes from hydrogenated oil. Another problematic ingredient. arlizotte@... wrote: What about vegetable stearins? Arlene --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? Guest guest
Hi , I suppose if I was looking for a supplement today I might not take one with this ingredient. However I have had wonderful results with my products I take now and I just won't stop. You know if its not broke don't fix it. I had tried many things for my adrenals and thyroid before with minimal results. So this is where choice always comes into play, there are other things that I won't touch that others will, like soy. Its a very confusing world we live in sometimes. trekkie323 wrote: >Hi , I know stearic acid is used in a lot of supplements and I >know you have had a lot of success in your healing. Guest guest
Prior to taking supplements I was living on antibiotics almost full time. This went on for years and contributed to my many symptoms. Since starting my program of supplements I have never needed antibiotics again. IF stearic acid supresses the immune system then something else I am doing is balancing it back the other way. Only one product I take has that ingredient and so I am not worried in the least. trekkie323 wrote: >>>>>>. Guest guest
Yes. Aren't you glad that you research? The supplement industry can be pretty deceptive. Go with those who have GMPs and Truth in Labeling. Just because some ingredients are used by many companies, it doesn't mean they're safe. It's in our best interest to know what we put in and put on our bodies. It's in their best interest to make a profit. arlizotte@... wrote: Thank you. They sure do try to make these things sound healthy. Arlene --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? Check outnew cars at Yahoo! Autos. Guest guest
We also have to keep things in perspective and try our hardest not to live in fear. Lets face it, we would have to stop breathing and drinking if we were going to avoid all toxins. Then what about the clothes we put on our backs, the lotions and makeup we put on our skin. The soaps, shampoos dish and laundry soaps? What about that new leather smell in our cars and the new carpets in our house? What about clothes that have been dry cleaned, swimming in chlorinated pools or hot tubs. The list is endless but the point is that we don't live on a pristine planet anymore and we will have to pick our poisons. Learning how to stay well for me is a daily walk, one I don't take for granted. I listen and learn but one thing I will not do is live in fear, just can't go there. I wish above all else that everyone on this group can find their way out of their illness and that the choices they make will be the right ones! Pugh wrote: >Yes. Aren't you glad that you research? Guest guest
Hi , For years I took fistfuls of synthetics vitamins and minerals and all kinds of other supplements. I was spending hundreds of dollars monthly and figured I was helping myself.I had not changed my diet at all and my digestion was almost non exisitant. Depsite all that I did improve my allergies and asthma quite a bit. So even supplements that are loaded with synthetics can have benefit and improve quality of life. This improvement was enough to keep me searching for more and better and not giving up. We have to learn as we go and sometimes we are not ready to receive new information that might help us even more. Money plays a huge part for most people and quality is not cheap when buying anything! I just learned that since we are remodeling our kitchen (OUCH!) Anyway, I stay in the forums not only to help others but also to keep myself in a learning mode. I may not change what I currently do but I am reminded daily where I have been and its keeps me trying harder to remain faithful to my program.I will only add or replace products if I find ones that I think are higher quality and will still be supporting me the same way. Pugh wrote: >, you may not be seeing negative effects because you only take one product with this ingredient. Some people take many products in large doses with stearic acid or magnesium stearate. Guest guest
Arlene, GMP's are great but you have to understand what that means. Its proof that what they say is in the product is actually in there!. THats a very important first step in buying from any company cause certainly you want what you are paying for. Can you imagine going to the store, paying for a gallon of juice and only getting 25oz??? Well it happens all the time in the supplement industry, they claim 125mg of something and its actually none, or only 25mg. But GMP's have nothing to do with safety of a product or claims or anything like that. It just means the company has taken more effort and spends more money to assure quality, and amounts are accurate. So after you determine if the company can even beleived or not, then you look at ingredients and decide if you want those or not. Hope this helps. arlizotte@... wrote: >We even have to watch GMP companies.
