Guest guest
Hi Trudy~ I sure wish I could help you with this one. I've not been able yet, to find something to help with my pain. It's constant and consuming. I have taken so many different medications, that I'm pretty much immune to most of them. Some work, but my tolerance to pain is so high now, and most pain medications are highly addictive. I'm sorry you are hurting so much. And, I know that you are being truthful about how this is making you feel. I get that way too sometime. Well, to be honest...probably more often than not. Just as soon as I can find an answer to your dilemma, I will get back to you. I'm still waiting to hear from my doctor. Looks like I'll be calling him again next week. May God bless and keep you... ~Valene~ -- Fwd: Pain Control Note: forwarded message attached. Have a burning question? Go to Yahoo! Answers and get answers from real people who know. Guest guest
This was presented in power point. I'll type up the info in laymens terms and email it to Sharon so she can put it in our info file Trudy Ogilvie wrote: Note: forwarded message attached. Have a burning question? Go to Yahoo! I have so many questions! Examples of each would be great: Anti-inflammitories are Ibupofren, motrin, ? What is best for arthritis pain? What is the difference between Percocet and Vicodin. I know they are very scary as far as getting addicted. Is it possible to take one of these every day?? Or is that too much? I was diagnosed five years ago with TM. Had to go on Medicare and change all my doctors (Kaiser). My new neuro says it's MS and so has just put me on copaxone. I take Neurontin - was on 2400mg, but have tried to cut back on it but the burning, and pain has gotten much worse. I was initially paralyzed from the waist down. After three months of therapy I went to a walker which is what I continue to use. From the hips down I have a great deal of pain. Numbness, burning and "bands". I would love to get some relief from all this. To be honest I'm tired of putting on the "Yes, I'm doing just fine!" face anymore! Not to fond of my new neuro, but supposedly he is the "best"... How do they define Neuropathic pain?? What works best for that??? Again, thanks for offering and I'd love to hear whatever you have to share about pain control. That's what my life is about right now! Thank you! Trudy Trimm wrote: Sharon, Tell me how Baclofen works differently for you than flexeril. I take flexeril twice a day and take klonipin three times a day and still get the spasms down my left leg and in my chest and back. I was wondering about asking my neuro to change it. in Texas Even nurses have to ask questions!I attended a great pain control class on the weekend if anyone has any questions about anti inflammatories versus tylenol versus opiods like codeine morphine vicoden. It was very informative about what works for different kinds of painSharon Marsden <wobbletowalk> wrote: I take 80 mg. of Baclofen a month and it usually costs my insurance around $100. Since I am on Medicare Part D drug program I am very conscious of every dollar I rack up because of the coverage gap that applies after I reach $2600 in meds for the year. I shop around for the cheapest prices so my coverage will last longer into the year.WalMart has the new generic meds for $4 program. I suppose you all know about it? You can go to Walmart.com and click on the Pharmacy drop-down menu, then to Generic Drug Program to access a list of all the drugs on their program. They list Baclofen 10 mg. with 30 being what they consider a months' supply. I had my doctor rewrite my script for 8 of the 10 mg. a day instead of the 20 mgs. I usually get. I had to get 240 of the 10 mgs. it cost me $32. I am really excited about this wonderful savings! This is how they figured it: 240 pills=8 of the 'months' supply' of 30 pills. 8 times $4=$32.What a deal! That will really stretch my med "allowance". You can also use your insurance with it for your regular copay.Sharon <!--[endif]--> Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less. Guest guest
Well, I was diagnosed back in 1985. That was before MRI's. Now, my doctor says I may have to have an MRI to make sure it's MS. He says he thinks it could be Fibromyagia. He says he doesn't want to rule anything out. But, what I've heard is, you can have MS and FM at the same time. That could account for all the pain. I've also got Optic Neuritis, I'm told that's an MS symptom. As far as the pain goes...yes, I pretty much deal with it on a daily basis. I'm not on anything prescribed. I just take Motrin, Aleve, Advil, and Tylenol. I switch them up, because If I take one for too long, it stops working for me. I have tried to get out there and walk. Was doing pretty good until this last summer. I took a few nasty falls. Now, I'm too scared to go out walking again. It's not that I'm so unbalanced, I don't think. It's just that may legs collapse from under me without warning. The last fall I took, I really should have gone to the doctor. I didn't though. It might be about time for me to get a cane. I'll discuss it with my doctor when I see him. I'm sorry I'm not much help for you. But, do know that I am praying for you. Guest guest
Val If we detox the body form heavy metals, toxins, it allows the body to heal! I have some links of a product that very safely detoxes the body and removes the toxins and heavy metals and doesn't tax the liver or kidneys, if you go to www.laztestimonials.com , www.zeoliteinfo.com and www.liquidzeohealth.com/gfloren . I also have a testimonial of a friend that has had MS since 1964 she is from wheel chair to running.... she started the product Sept. 29th 2006 and less than 3 months later her canes, walker, wheelchair, and mobilized power chair are in storage!. This all came about because she is DETOXING the body from heavy metalsand toxins. If you want her testimonial you can email me. God Bless Gloria Valene wrote: Gloria~ No, I haven't tried to detox from heavy metals? I've done cleansing diets. What does a heavy metal detox do for you? I would be interested in knowing more. Guest guest
Val, have you tried yoga? Funny, but the Betaseron people sent me videos, and a mat, and I put it aside and didn't look at it for over a year. Now, when I finally decided to view it and try it, well, I was unsure if I was going to be able to do any of the " positions " . However, working with a chair, and with my sofa, and doing my best to " breathe " ...it actually helped me with the pain in my legs. the spasms lightened up somehow. And I would never have believed it except after a few days of doing sun salutation, I wasn't hurting and I was sleeping better. Just a thought.
