Guest guest
I just won't block and copy that entire post and no, you didn't hit a nerve with the MTSO part at all. But when I started out, I made sure that I had what I needed to do in order to do the job before the internet, lists to ask questions, etc., and I somehow managed with health insurance and the like. Of course you nor anybody else on this list is going to see my very valid points due to the psychobabble. If you can't afford a decent education and reference library, then this is not the profession for you. Quite frankly, would you want somebody with a less than stellar education and reference library (due to cash of course) transcribing a note on your mother who had Stage IV breast cancer and not knowing the drugs or terms (possibly jeopardizing the patient's life), and only going to a list with a s/l, and possibly leaving out or transcribing the wrong terms or drugs for her treatment? I don't think so. Being factual is not being rude and if you or anybody else can't handle that, then that is not my problem. (¨`v´¨) -;- `v´ *¤·¸.·´¨¨) .· ´¨) -;- ¸.·´ ¸.·´ ¸.·´ (_¸.·´ (_¸.·´`·. Guest guest
OK, I've just read all the back-and-forth slams (quite honestly don't know WHY or HOW I persevered but I did)! , nothing IMO was taken out of context - you directly and blatantly hammered someone for asking a question. In some specialties (particularly Rad work {mine}), there's little need for drug lookup. And, as unfortunate as it was (in retrospect), my " home " course devoted very little time to medications. Finances (in my case) were restricted and I couldn't afford the high-end courses, but I worked late nights (after a 9-hour/day non-MT job) and every weekend for 1-1/2 years studying/reading/networking/etc. to get to this point (very happy now BTW). That little story probably applies to many out there - a lot of hard work/little compensation, but we " dealt with it. " With exorbitant long-distance charges, self-paid health coverage (go figure!), equipment repairs (oh, the list goes on), how the heck can one possibly afford all the fancy-smancy software you're referring to? I personally have quite an extensive reference library - probably close to 30 books, but it took me a long time and much $$$ to get there. Some of us are working 12-14 hours/day (for the " love " of it, of course) to pay for the equipment required, insurance, etc. I'm not whining about this - I'm being realistic and you know it! Most of us don't " own " MT services - did I hit a nerve? I'm about done here. My husband often says " don't get her mad. She doesn't get mad often, but watch out when she does! " Well, now I'm mad. I'll get over it - always do. With that said, I'm goin' back to work - got a truckload!! I'll be back, probably with some " basic " questions. Sorry to all for the ranting ........... just couldn't let it go! Excuse typos please; in a rush. Thanks to everyone for all the help past, present, and future!! Quite obvious to me that you really *do* have a huge problem there!! Don't know or really care what about, but it's rearing it's ugly little head - not flattering at all. The respect I once had for your opinions/advice has just come to a screeching halt. Not good. If you can't, won't, or simply choose not to productively contribute here, why *are* you here? Guest guest
Isn't there some kind of terms of service violation here? Is there a way to exclude violators from the list? Guest guest
They must have gotten lost in the 1500 emails from the list today... If the rules were posted earlier (not that we should have to be told to be polite as a rule), why are " quite a few of us " still violating them? <<Then it looks like that quite a few of us tonight have violated that. Guest guest
You might want to get out one of you MANY reference books. It would tell you that " stage " should not be capitalized in " Stage IV breast cancer " . ... Or aren't you familiar with THE AAMT BOOK OF STYLE??? Re: Are you finished???
