Guest guest
Hi , I'm not sure about the answer to this. I know the Pill can make people depressed--it is NOT a healthy thing to be doing. However, I don't know what the protocol is for stopping it. I will ask . Are you withdrawaing from Zoloft? How is that going? I can live with the physical side-effects, but have just started feeling depressed over the last few weeks, which is really awful. The only thing that helps is yoga, which is a very interesting experience these days...my legs are so numb I can't believe I can hold the poses, LOL. I just started taking a multivitamin, but I find I'm very jumpy. Perhaps I need to start on a lower dose. Guest guest
Hi , Without knowing your current diet, your withdrawal history and the whole list of supplements you're taking, it's hard to say what will help. Depression is a pretty standard part of withdrawal, but it can be managed. Most people can improve mood by getting sugar, MSG and refined flours out of their diets. Exercise is the great antidepressant, as you know. You can just do gentle walking if the yoga is too difficult. The legs will get better--it's an annoying symptom for sure, but it does pass. Which multi are you using? If it has a lot B vitamins in it, it could make you jumpy. You might want to start slow and work up to a full dose. I'm going to post the article about asking a health question--this will tell you how to give the information I need all at once, so I can formulate an answer wiothout going back through hundreds of emails. No offense--I just need to be efficient with my time if I am to help anyone at all, and I have a million things to do for myself today as well. Guest guest
Hi , I spoke with regarding the birth control pill issue. She said that such drugs manipulate hormones and are not good for anyone. She said that if it were her, she would not resume taking it after the next period. The depression you are experiencing is most likely from withdrawal. Your system is working hard to cope with the withdrawal, and it is very common to feel tired and low. Just be good to yourself, take good care of yourself, and you will come thorugh this. Don't buy into the whole " depression " thing; just remind yourself over and over that it's a symptom of withdrawal. If you get diet and supplements and exercise all straightened out, you won't have to worry about depression in the future. Here's my history. I began withdrawing from Zoloft five months ago. I've cut down from 100mg (a dosage Ive taken for seven years), and am now on 70mg. Each month or so I cut down 5%. It usually takes me about 6 weeks to feel okay on that. This month I've become very depressed, and ten days ago cut down to my current dosage , 70mg (a 5% cut). Here are the supplements I take: I wish I could take those on the list, but none are sold in Australia, and I'm waaay too poor to buy them OS:) FISH OIL: 3000mg per day. It contains per tablet: *Fish oil (natural) containing omega 3 marine triglycerides 1000mg * EPA 180mg * DHA 120mg MAGNESIUM 300MG containing: Magnesium Oxide 197mg Magnesium Orotate 8mg Magnesium phosphate 99.7mg equiv. phosphorous 17.5mg equiv. magnesium 20.6mg Magnesium chelate 75mg I find Magnesium really good, but I'm stuck on a 300mg dosage. Anything more and I get very dizzy and lethargic. ALSO: VITAMIN C 100mg daily My Multivitamin is called " Swisse Women's Ultivite " . I does have a lot of Vitamin Bs in it, so I've stopped it today and will see what happens. Hope you enjoyed my life story Kim, LOL!
Guest guest
>Thanks Kim, and please thank for me:) In my last post I wrote down all my supplements and forgot about my diet! Breakfast: Protein shake and dried apricots Then I snack through the day (to keep my blood sugar up) on wheat crackers, fruit and nuts. LUNCH: Turkey or tuna sandwich. Apple DINNER: lotsss of vegetables and chicken or fish. The protein shake really boosts my energy. We don't have Goatein in Australia, but this shake is approved by the Aussie Sports People, so that's good enough for me:) I exercise as much as I can, and never miss my daily walk. Yoga is a godsend to me. I can't wait to be off these antidepressants so that I can do it each day again. Before I took Zoloft, I ate very badly and lived on about 7 cups of coffee a day. Then I got panic attacks (no wonder!). I began taking Zoloft for panic attacks after my big sister committed suicide seven years ago. I was once a very perky energetic girl, but have lost a lot of faith in life since I lost her. Guest guest
Hi , My chief concern is the protein shake. If it's a whey protein product, it is likely to be causing a spike in blood sugar. The dried apricots would only contribute to that. Do you usually need a snack between breakfast and lunch? This could be why. Snacking on fruit is another concern, as it too raises blood sugar. Fruit is best eaten after a meal containing fat and protein. The reason I bring this up is because dperessive symptoms are often caused by unstable blood sugar, and more specifically by too much insulin. Food for thought. I'm so sorry about your sister, and I am especially sorry that someone thought you needed to be drugged for a perfectly normal reaction to a terrible event. We're supposed to feel terrible after something terrible happens. Drugs don't change what happened--only time helps us adjust. But the drugs rob us of the ability to adapt to our changed circumstances--in effect, they trap us in the grief (though they may mask the feelings). I am confident that things can improve for you!
