In my posts, I mentioned Carson's assymetry was 1.2mm and is down to

0.7mm. I was incorrect and I am sorry-I know some of you commented

that didn't sound right so I checked again. His measurements were

done in centimeters-not millimeters. So his original assymetry was

1.2cm now down to 0.7cm (which converts to 7mm-right?)...am I getting

this yet? I feel so stupid about this " new math " !

Okay, the measurements they take are:

1. Head Circumference

2. I dont know what this one is called but they use this ruler that

looks like a VERY large wrench and measure his head from right

forehead to left back and left forehead to right back (which would

look like an X on top of the head if you were looking down at a

diagram of the measurement). The difference between these two

numbers gives them the assymetry. Ex: His right forehead to left

back measured 15.3 at his appt today. His left forehead to right

back measured 14.6 (this is the side that has been flat). The

difference between 15.3 and 14.6 = .7.

3. There is another measurement written on the the page of his clinic

notes: " ML 12.7 " and " AP 15.2 " . I didn't go today, dh took Carson so

I don't know what these numbers are. I didn't remember to ask at the

last appt because I was still trying to learn all of this terminology

and I forgot. Do you have any clue what ML or AP mean?

Thanks!

Jenn,

Those measurements sound like the right ones. He is receiving good correction. I believe the "X" measurement is the cranial vault.

Jenn, I really have no idea what these measurements are. I'm sure

Debbie or know. I truly didn't want to know them. What is

normal? What is average? There really isn't anyway to know as every

head shape is different.

Jenn:

Unfortunately, I can't much help w/your measurement question either.

Abby never had any measurements done besides her head circumference.

I've always heard measurements can be quite subjective. Many other

parents discuss their baby's measurements in our group, so I'm sure

you'll get some more help. Sorry!
