Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. I'm not going to attempt to address your concerns in any depth myself because your pregnancy is a major complicating factor, and I do not have expertise in that area. Our group owner, Creel, is truly an expert in drug withdrawal and recovery...she is not able to be online right now, but I speak to her regularly on the phone, and I will talk to her about your situation. The best way to deal with a complex situation like yours is with a private consultation. It's simply too difficult and time-consuming to do it all by email, with all the little details that need to be communicated back and forth. I highly recommend that you schedule a consultation with as soon as possible. ordinarily, I would not suggest it so soon--I would give you a chance to get settle din here and see how we do things--but with a pregnancy, every day counts. does charge a fee for her time, but it's well worth it. Take a look at 's Consultation Info in the Files http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Withdrawal_and_Recovery/files/ for more information. I encourage you to read Eating for Recovery and the Basic Healing Protocol, both of which you received when you joined. Start working on the diet right away, and get yourself some Carlson's liquid fish oil so you can start on that too. It's one of the best things you can do for you and the baby. I'll get back to you. Guest guest
much Xanax are you currently taking per day? Have you reduced or increased it recently? If so, when and by how much? Are you taking anything else? If so, what, how much, and for how long? 2gs & I decreased it to 1mgs and Its just really keeping me up at night,I hate the feeling, and my heart just races.there are momments when I just take a little tiny more when I HAVE to function..or else I'd be a mess. The dr said take ambien@@ NO thanks.. & I plan on weaning all the way off.I am seeing another dr tomorrow for a 2nd opinion(SIGH) ugh but I feel like my instincts are more accurate than dr's protocol based on the FDA because I looked UP BOTH meds, and they are BOTH on the CLASS D. & it does say..Benefits must outweigh the risk, yet I want to minimize risk lol does this make sense?Otherwise I am healthy, would be HAPPY & fine. Guest guest
by not only Xanax during the firsttrimester, but also abrupt withdrawal! You're already halfway throughthe trimester...I'm just wondering if it makes more sense to slow downand make it more comfortable for yourself. It's very hard on the bodyto endure an abrupt withdrawal. When I speak to , I will get her opinion on it.If I were you, I would be taking Carlson's liquid fish oil right now,and I would work up to close to 10 grams a day (yes, 10,000 mg). Itheals the nervous system like nothing else, and it's very importantduring pregnancy. is this better? I'm sorry about the fonts. & I thought the SAME thing about the abrupt withdrawal, that cannot be good,my nervous system out of whack!I'm not comfortable So tomorrowI'll go find some Carlsons liquid fish oil..I am guessing I can pick it up at the health food store.I am also going to see another dr tomorrow, and I will get a 2nd opinion@@ but I am allready almost DONE with my first trimester..(7 weeks,I think it ends at 11 or so weeks)..well half way done, & i didn't let myself go into MAJOR withdrawal, just that one morning:( Just giving it a try,I do realize its a dangerous medication, and of course AM ANGRY at myself, & I feel like i have to do whatever it takes/within my power to help the baby/rather than "me"..if its harmfull for the baby for me to detox/well that is good to know, & i did hear this before.I went half... & yes its not fun:( I believe maybe a longer acting benzo/with a smaller dose would be more adequete.(SIGH) and wean that way.I checked out the benzo.org link and it shows a way to wean off completely.I will print it and bring it to the dr's. Guest guest
Hi , May I ask you to type your messages in plain text, please? The huge bright pink font is overwhelming to many of our members, and it eats up a lot of bandwidth. The best way to reduce the effects of the withdrawal is to make no more than a 5-10% reduction at a time. I realize you're in a hurry to get off this drug--but I'm wondering how the baby will be affected by not only Xanax during the first trimester, but also abrupt withdrawal! You're already halfway through the trimester...I'm just wondering if it makes more sense to slow down and make it more comfortable for yourself. You're right in thinking that Ambien is no better than Xanax--you'll end up dealing with abrupt withdrawal AND a second drug--not a good thing. Guest guest
<<I believe maybe a longer acting benzo/with a smaller dose would be more adequete.(SIGH) and wean that way.>> **That is usually very helpful. <<I checked out the benzo.org link and it shows a way to wean off completely.I will print it and bring it to the dr's.>> ***Most of our members are actively working to wean completely off various drugs. We have been helping people do that for years--it's why we're here. We provide a framework and guidelines for people to go through withdrawal and heal from the damage done by the drugs. We're more than a support group. probably knows more about withdrawal and recovery than anyone else out there. Good luck taking that info to the doctor--most doctors don't want to hear " internet nonsense " , even when it makes far more sense than anything they would do. Let us know how we can be of help to you. Regards, Kim co-moderator
