Guest guest
Hi , I know it must be hard to have a family that does not sympathize with you on your various symptoms. But I think it has been a benefit that your family does not believe you have MS. The only possible benefit for you knowing for sure and them believing you have MS is that then the doctors will give you the drug of choice. It will not get you closer to getting rid of your illness, only farther away from health. It might get you some sympathy. IF you do reverse your disease (which does not happen with drugs) then why do you need to prove it to anyone??? I have reversed my disease and I get out of bed every morning and live life, that is proof enough for me and I am the only one I care about because I am the only one who suffered when I was sick. For me and anyone who is going to use alternatives getting a diagnosis might help you know how to design a supplements program but beyond that it would not be useful. Just my opinon. trekkie323 wrote: >Hi all, > >I've been mentioning recently I'm trying to decide whether to have >repeat MRIs done. Guest guest
Hi . What's the point of having more MRIs? I had several of them, a spinal tap and an evoked potentials test, most tests to humor my parents. I got the same diagnosis and I use the same treatment as I would have regardless of the name of the disease or the number of lesions I had/have. I'm getting better with alternative treatment (diet, exercise, supplements, detox, etc.). I don't even supplement as much as I used to because I get most of my nutrition from dietary sources. I know I'm getting better because of how I feel and what I can do. I don't need another MRI to tell me what's going on. Do you? trekkie323 wrote: Hi all, I've been mentioning recently I'm trying to decide whether to have repeat MRIs done. I would appreciate some opinions. --------------------------------- Bored stiff? Guest guest
hi, I would say a mri after one or 2 years might help to see if the lesions are growing faast. that is about the only result I can emagine. Guest guest
If you don't have lesions then are you looking for them? I am convinced that the only person that will care enough to manage my health is me. I have one baseline MRI on my cervical spine that shows damage. I might eventually get another one done when I feel it might show improvement. I will be able to judge that if the time comes and it will not cost me anything here in Ontario, Canada. I might get a spinal MRI done. I have never had one and am pretty sure there are lesions. But I am also only interested in getting it done for baseline purposes and it will not cost me anything. If it cost me I would not get it done. $200 would buy a lot of organic healthy food. The spine-MRI might just confirm what I already know and feel in my body. I've had one brain mri done (normal result) and will not pursue another one of those unless I feel it might be necessary. Again...it would not cost me anything and if it did I would not get another done. Any money that is spent on diagnosis is money not spent on healing. It doesn't matter what label gets attached to the myriad of symptoms we all present. The cure seems to be straightforward and diet-based for many of the same disorders. Guest guest
Dear Orla, it might not cost you financially to get a spinal test but it could cost you physically. They can create problems such as lifelong headaches or an exacerbation. Please rethink it and do some more research. Guest guest
Hi Orla Next week I will have an MRI of my brain, lumbar spine and leg. It is an open MRI and will take approx. 90 minutes. I've had MS for about 20 years. My ONLY symptom is a weak left leg muscle. What do you do for your " healing " ? I intend to get a leg brace for my weak left leg. Please reply - Terry Orla Hegarty wrote: If you don't have lesions then are you looking for them? I am convinced that the only person that will care enough to manage my health is me. Guest guest
" A spinal MRI can cause lifelong headaches or an exacerbation? " I've never heard this. Are you meaning that a lumbar puncture could cause these things? Please clarify. Thanks! Guest guest
No, not spinal MRI-Spinal or lumbar tap. I didn't say spinal MRI but I can see if I did why that would have confused you. Yes, a lumbar puncture can definitely cause these things and the fluid is in there for a reason. It is an invasive procedure which shouldn't be done without careful consideration. Hans Neiper probably knew more about ms than anyone in the world and he wrote prolonged or lifelong headaches. There is also a chance of creating an exacerbation. For further info, order " The Curious Man " by Dr.Hans Neiper. Best, Kathy Re: Need help with whether to have an MRI--opinions please If you don't have lesions then are you looking for them?
