Guest guest
Hi Jen, Thanks for posting an update. Aidan and Trentyn's stories are very similar. You know that Aidan finished his 2nd band a few weeks ago at 19 months. He did receive correction but still has a significant flat area on the back right. Hubby and I discussed a 3rd band last night but I don't think we will pursue it. Not much in our favor now, he is almost 20 months, his neuro (the only one that would give us a script) retired as of Oct, our PT at the Atlanta CT that we had our entire journey with left the week after Aidan finished treatment, and you know how much he took off his 2nd band. It is very discouraging but maybe since 3 peds and 2 neuros said that it would be better on its own by the time he was 5 that I can " hope " for some additional correction and you can do the same for Trentyn! She looked briefly at his head and said he was all set. I was very surprised because he has had an adjustment at every appointment. She noticed my surprise and looked at it again and said well, I do see a small adjustment that needs to be made. She then went to the back for a little while to do the adjustment. Anyone ever wonder if they just go back there and wait a little bit and then come back and say it is adjusted? lol Just seemed weird that at first glance there was nothing needed and then after I said something, she had two adjustments to make. I'm not really serious, I'm sure she did but it did make me question how closely she was paying attention. > > Then when the receptionist congratulated us on his calendar appearance , our therapist went on and on with pride about two of her babies that made it. She told me it was completely up to me, but did caution me about the minimal amount of additional correction we might see. I feel this way too, but then she began pointing out the areas that he still needs correction in. He is far from perfect, but and I know where he started, so the change at least to us is startling. It was very depressing to see someone pick him apart who does not realize what we started with. Anyway, I probably went in there expecting to be disappointed and that probably flavored my visit. > > My husband accepted a job in Ohio, so I think we will definitely be stopping with the 2 bands. Even though he does have areas of correction needed, he is already 18 months and I'm just not sure the extra 2 months at 20 months would make that much difference. What I wouldn't do to go back to his 4 month appointment with the jack#@#$@% specialist and have him banded then.... If you are questioning whether you should band or not, don't wait! Guest guest
Thanks for the update on Trentyn. I am sure it is hard to see someone new for sure. Sometimes Jenna's ortho didn't make an adjustment at 1st. She would see how it fits as we talk and when she plays. Then she would decide about an adjustment. Jenna didn't always have something shaved out of her band. Congratulations on your husbands new job. i have never been to Ohio. Trentyn can still round more. Jenna has recently and she has been out of her band since January 2003. Is she 100% now? NO but i am totally satisfied. Let us now whren Tretyn's graduation is official!!!! Guest guest
Jen, I hate that you had such a bummer of an appt. Girl, when they would take 's band to the back to make an adjustment, I would look in there to make sure I could see clean foam. This is where having a little discolor inside is good!! I hope you next visit with her is a better one. You never know, by January, Trentyn just might be where you want him to be when treatment is completed. Congrats to your DH on his new job. Guest guest
Oh Jen, I'm sorry you had such a bummer of an appointment. I know how it is to see someone else when you've grown attached to a certain person. I was so sad when we were told it was our last appoinment last week and our regular ortho wasn't there. I didn't know that CT did 3 weeks even when they got older. Congratulations to your husband on the new job. What a big move for you guys! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that Trentyn has some big growth spurts between now and January. I suppose that all of us who have babies graduating at less than 100% can only know we did what we could and just hope for some post grad rounding.
