It really doesn't make sense, does it? When you consider these are federal programs. I guess each state makes certain determinations on their own. Me? I'd want to make the wage found in YOUR state! LOLOL There are many jobs in Arizona which don't pay as much as in other states, as we're a Right to Work State. I wonder if that could figure in to DES wages at all, too? Doesn't seem it "should", but... wrote: it's amazes me that the same position for the same type of work would have such a difference in pay when they all work for the same government office ! Pay rates are either feast or famine. For every good paying job there are 3 that barely pay minimum wage. None of the large stores here - Meijer, Wal-Mart, Kmart,etc have more than a very few full time employees. Part-time workers don't get benefits or insurance. A friend who drives truck for the county road commission (for the past 5 years) gets paid more than my sister-in-law who's a full time nurse and has worked at the same hospital for almost 20 years. She works part time in a Dr's office too and can barely cover her monthly expenses of rent, utilities, and transportation. If you aren't a Dr or lawyer or work for an auto company or the county or state, you'll probably have to work 2 jobs just to get by
