Ugh hon.. my ped did the SAME thing.. it was almost SIX months before I got the referral for the tort tho and will be 9 1/2 months before they will even DISCUSS the helmet. Not to mention he has a second birth defect nobody ever told me about as well.

So you are reporting them? I am scared to do this because she does a good job.. well I thought.. now im questioning.. with his reflux ..

Update on Jaxson and his dumb ped

Hey all - I posted this in the tort group but thought I would let those of you that don't read the posts in that group know this. As you know, I had problems with Jaxson's ped last week and asked for his medical records to be sent to me so I can change peds. Well, Saturday I received them and decided to read through them yesterday. Much to my SHOCK, when Jaxson was still in the hospital post delivery, his pediatrican already KNEW that he had Torticollis. I wasn't even told at that time - not until I instisted that something was wrong at his 2 month checkup. Only then was I referred to someone else that told me he had a problem!! For those 2 months we could have been doing therapy, possibly avoiding the helmet all together! We didn't get his helmet until he was almost 5 months old - so for those first 2 months we could have had him in therapy, not ever needing a helmet. He is also having problems with his hip, possible dysplasia to the left, which we find out for sure a week from today. That may not have been an issue either! From the time we finally found out (though still early on in his life but it SHOULDVE been earlier) his medical expenses, with all the different docs, etc., has reached over $17,000. Insurance covers most of course, but that's not the point. All these visits, all these issues, may not have had to happen! I have already contacted via email the AMA and AAP as well as our local hospital advocate. I am so dang mad at that doctor! It is a small practice, just a hubby and wife, so no senior ped at their office. Kimmom to Kaela (9) and Jaxson 6 mo tort/plagio/CranioCap 12/4/03For more plagio info

Oh my gosh. I would be so angry. It makes me want to ask for copies of our medical records to see what is in there.

There is no excuse for him not telling you about the tort when it was diagnosed.

Please keep us posted on what you find out abotut Jaxson's hip. I am praying that it turns out fine.

Oh good heavens! I just am in shock that doctors do this. Six months,

I'd all out SMACK them for waiting that long!! And, I honestly

believe had I not said anything to his ped about it, he wouldn't have

done anything.

And, DEFINATELY I am going to report him. I have already sent an

email to the AAP and AMA as well as our local hospital - just did

that all this morning. I typed out a very long email, explaining

everything, and sent to them all. Im in no way a person that speaks

out, I'm actually kind of shy in most cases. All these extra hours

spent at the doctor's office, all the tests, therapy, etc. Oh yeah,

definately speaking up.

Makes you wonder what else the don't tell you, huh?

Mine doesn't believe in the treatments and said it would resolve itself. I am livid.. I think thats MY choice to decide, not hers!

I had the same pediatrician with my son and he is VERY assymetric now-- and its too late for him...

I am one of those non speak out people too .. I usually do what I'm told.. but I am seeing now how well that is serving me *sigh*

It sure does make me wonder... its absolutely terrifying!
