Guest guest Posted August 18, 2001 Report Share Posted August 18, 2001 i grew up on homemade breads cakes pies cookies graveys mashed potatos, home grown garden stuff, grean breans peas sweet pickles, pickled beats, cucombers, lettuce, tomatos, croc(yellow)squash, zuekennie squash speggit squash, you name we grew it, rabbit meat, dear meat, chickens, we had our own cow, she gave about 5gals aday of half and half, so we had our own butter, cream, cottatge cheese,milk, and such, we had pigs so thats pork meat, dad made the best homade fudge, we had kringles for christmas, divinty, we picked and shelled our own pecans, and then we started getting bulk stuff from the bread stores, most was fit for humans just out dated, we would freeze the good stuff and feed the rest to the pigs. i weighed around 125 in kindergarden. if the stuff would have been in moderation, it would have been ok, but with the lack of medical care and knowlege we just ate and ate ourselfs sick. we did not know about gentics diabetes a whole lot then, and even thoug i am only 37, fyi, i did not know about inside bathrooms in homes till age 12, or a gas cook stove, we had a wood burning stove, mom cooked on and it kept the house warm in the winter, running water came from an inside pump in the kitchen, we would heat the water for baths, so am old if you want to call it that long before my time, the music is kitty wells, hank snow, and the like, the rock was and is big boper, dion, elvis, the supremes, and so on, now you know how me and my 72yr old hubby get along so well, i still have a old horse drawn plow, and push not gas, lawn mower, an old hand bottle caper for homade root-beer. now thats enough about how and what i grew up on any one else glenna 30yr diabetic, 30yr hypothyroidism 15mg actos, 35units nph, 360mg armor thyroid, 10mg lipitor lo-carb,lo-fat,lo-cal, woe Re: kids In a message dated 08/16/2001 1:22:39 PM Central Daylight Time, barnie64@... writes: > glenna thanks for your imput..... as a child, my mom did limit my sweets.....wish someone did a study! does anyone here know what they grew up on (type 2's) maybe we can do a little study of our own. lizz Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
