Guest guest
Lynn, please call the MS society and they can refer you to someone about the codes on the house. 1-800-FIGHT-MS If it's not long distance their actual # in Indy is 870-2500 Remember they can give you $450 in assistance per year. So if you need a ramp or handbars or whatever please apply for that assistance. I'm sorry you're going through a rough time. I will come by and pick you up and we will go have lunch some day. I'm still hoping and waiting for his garnishments to start....lol It doesn't look like we have to worry about snow anytime soon. Do you belong to a church? I'm sure there are people in the congregation or just in your community that could help you with the repairs. Spread the word through friends and family in town and get the networking started. x0x0x0 Shirley happybutterflies@... wrote: I am going to try this again. Guest guest
Valene, It's interesting to find out that I'm not the ONLY person with MS who has had this problem... I had the same thing in my left shoulder BEFORE diagnosis.. figured then I had just overworked it and was having a bout with bursitis.. thing is the cortisone injections the doc did for it.. didn't help, but he kept insisting it would... It eventually went away by itself... A year or so after my diagnosis, I started having the same situation in my right shoulder... I called my neuro, and told him I was having an exacerbation and it was affecting my shoulder. He sent me for x-rays.. then told me that the x-ray showed arthritis... I told him that yes I would assume at my age I had some degree of arthritis in most of my joints, but that THIS was NOT arthritis pain that I was having.. That kind of pain would have been at least somewhat relieved with taking Advil.. and I got no relief taking it... He continued to insist that it was the arthritis.. I told him fine.. don't treat it.. it will go away on it's own eventually... And it did.... (I was concerned about ending up with a frozen shoulder from lack of use, since it was so painful.. fortunately, that didn't happen).. Thing is as soon as the pain went away.. I had nearly full range of motion once again... It's been a couple of years since the last episode, and it only starts to hurt when I get it straight up in the air, over my head... I agree with you that the pain is unbearable... unfortunately, unless your neuro recognizes it for an exacerbation or some sort of flare-up and treats it as such.. you'll have to just wait it out.. which is highly frustrating.. not to mention painful as all get-out... Hopefully your's won't last as long as mine did.. but the nice part is, once it decides to give up.. once it decides to give up.. it just goes away... I woke up one day to having no more pain... I'll say a little prayer that you won't have to put up with this for long... Take care |)onna Valene wrote: > > I guess it's not so strange. I too have been having a lot of pain in my > arms. Guest guest
Donna- I hear what you're saying. Well, rather...see what you're typing. Yes, when I first had the pain in my left leg, I thought it was just my MS. Even when it went into my left arm. But, now I'm not so sure. It's in my right arm now. Has been for a few months. I'm never pain-free. The pain just seems to find new places to go. There's really very little time in between when I'm not in pain. I'm not giving up. I just think I really need to find out what the true cause is. Blessed be....Val -- Re: update on Lynn Valene,It's interesting to find out that I'm not the ONLY person with MS who has had this problem... Guest guest
Val, I'm sorry that you are still in pain, and that nothing seems to help it.. that's gotta be about the pits.. Does heat help any? Sometimes I get these throbbing type pains but in between joints, so it can't be arthritis.. and it's not really bone pain.. and it's not really anything I can pinpoint... I do know that if I get it supported well and nice and warm, and sometimes find a position where it does hurt and then keep it there.. it stops... So if it's my arm between my wrist and elbow, I fold a towel lengthwise and use it like an ace bandage to wrap around my arm.. pulling it tight, but not too tight.. finding a position where the throbbing eases up, until it stops completely, or enough that I think I can move it a bit.. and go from there.. but it seems if I bind it up good and of course the terry cloth from the towel is going to build heat.. it helps.. But I also agree that you need to ease your mind and find out what is causing the pain.. Take Care, and I'll keep you in my prayers.. |)onna I'm not really wishy-washy, I just go with the flow whichever way it turns.. Valene wrote: > > Donna- > I hear what you're saying. Guest guest
Hi Donna- I've tried heat, ice packs, and even Icy/Hot. Nothing seems to work. It's not what you might call a throbbing pain. It's like a deep burning achy type pain. It doesn't hurt at all as long as I don't try to reach for anything higher than my shoulder. It changes areas also. Sometimes it's in my forearm then it'll switch to my biceps. That's where it's hurting tonight. My neuro finally called today and said he still hasn't received my records from my former neuro. I kinda think she's a little P.O.'d at me for firing her. So, she's going to take her sweet time about forwarding my records. I hope that's not the case, I'd hate to think she's that petty. He told me, as soon as he gets the records, he will give me a call. I never did get the prednisone he prescribed for me. I have very little money and I when I do have the money, I forget to pick it up. Guess I'd better get them. I'll have the money on Monday. Have a good evening... http://360.yahoo.com/vallee45 -- Re: update on Lynn Val,I'm sorry that you are still in pain, and that nothing seems to help it.. that's gotta be about the pits.. Does heat help any?Sometimes I get these throbbing type pains but in between joints, so it can't be arthritis.. and it's not really bone pain.. and it's not really anything I can pinpoint... I do know that if I get it supported well and nice and warm, and sometimes find a position where it does hurt and then keep it there.. it stops... So if it's my arm between my wrist and elbow, I fold a towel lengthwise and use it like an ace bandage to wrap around my arm.. pulling it tight, but not too tight.. finding a position where the throbbing eases up, until it stops completely, or enough that I think I can move it a bit.. and go from there.. but it seems if I bind it up good and of course the terry cloth from the towel is going to build heat.. it helps..But I also agree that you need to ease your mind and find out what is causing the pain..Take Care, and I'll keep you in my prayers..|)onnaI'm not really wishy-washy, I just go with the flow whichever way it turns..Valene wrote:> > Donna-> I hear what you're saying.
