Guest guest
Tuna that is why I say that is tiny for his age. I really need to see about putting him on Risperdal. The trouble is the doctor here told me that Risperdal effects the liver and the Dipakene that is on for his epilepsy also effects the liver. So they don't really want him on it. Guest guest
-My younger son is very slim (probably 5th or 10th%) He is also 90% for height, he is almost as tall as , who is 2 years older. The thinness is my side of the family (of course now, its different) The tallness from my husband has a very tall brother (the other males are just average height).I wouldnt worry about the thyroid thing unless its so fast its medically significant. I mean, if its a little faster than normal may not be bad, he can eat a lot and stay thin. The Dr. said he's been like this for quite awhile so it is just the way he is meant to be. I told him I hadn't been too concerned because my dad, brother, sister, dh and I were all very thin when we were kids and younger adults. Dh's family has a thyroid condition so she was concerned he might have it. He said as long as he doesn't drop off suddenly or increase suddenly, not to worry about it. > I thought I'd share this with you all since we've had more than one discussion about our kids sizes. > > Sue in Michigan, > Mom to , 11, HFA, ADD > , 8, HFA, ADD > > AIM ID: smg5862 > > >
Guest guest
katie is 2 1/2 she is 28 inches and 28 pounds. It's the head thing that makes me wonder - the dr says she's in the 50%-98% for her head (a medical degree and that's the best estimate she has). My husband says it's like that to hold her brains LOL
Guest guest
's head has always been large for his size. The children's hopsital even ordered an MRI just to make sure it was " normal " . My husband says it's like that Autistic heads are larger. That's cuz they're smarter. They just don't want us to know. Salli

His height & weight have always been 90-95%; his head is usually right on 50th but sometimes dips down to 25th. Gabe is following the same pattern thus far. -Sara. Guest guest
My mil was concerned about being so thin because they have a hereditary thyroid problem in the family. I told the Dr. I hadn't been concerned because my dad, brother, sister and I had all been sticks as kids and my dh was only 145lbs when we met (he was 35 at the time!). No, he doesn't have a thyroid problem. His weight has been consistent over the course of time at the 5th percentile and his height is at the 25th. Just a skinny boy!
