Guest guest
hi Rita, I called the instructors boss and made a complaint and the instructor came today and was a good boy for the whole session, smile. we will see how it goes. I told the boss I would like a different instructor. she said they were just trying to hire someone now. thanks, Re: mobility progress for > Have not heard from you in ages. Guest guest
Hi , I am glad that you made your concerns known, because there is no way for the boss to know what is happening out there, unless somebody tells her, or him. Good luck with the rest of the lessons. Re: mobility progress for > > > > Have not heard from you in ages. Guest guest
, thanks for your support. it was a tough one because I did not want to cause anyone to lose a job. three out of the last four sessions he cancelled on me. he just said he could not justify coming here for one person. I find it hard to believe there are not more blind people needing assistance. then another instructor told me I was the only one that would see him. very strange? Guest guest
good for you for sticking with it! If you feel more confident in your instructor, you will make much better progress! I know it is difficult some times, to speak up, but if you don't you will be the loser. You will lose out on important skills which will be with you for the rest of your life. So stick with it, and good luck! Go and show him what you're made of!! Re: mobility progress for > >> > >> > >> > Have not heard from you in ages. Guest guest
, I applaude you for doing what you did. I understand your concern about someone losing their job - but - if the person was doing as he or she should there would not be a problem in the first place. If you were the only one willing to see him does that tell you something? Keep up the good work and especially the good work on your diet. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
harry, that applies to diabetes also. sometimes i wonder about quality of life. i realize by being a diabetic, you are faced with a challange. but a blind diabetic is a monster as you say it. i pray for wayne, i pray for all the people out there who will not do anything about their problems. i pray god with show them the light and give them strength. all we need is the proper tools and a little guidance. karen Re: mobility progress for >>>> >> >>>> >> >>>> >> > Have not heard from you in ages. Guest guest
Good for you . Everyone has burdens to bear; I personally don't think being a blind diabetic is as bad as some other awful conditions I have seen in my nursing life and life as a counselor. At least our problems have many, if difficult solutions! Guest guest
armando, i have been told the mobility training is the hardest part and i have to agree. even when you are being trained with others you realize they have some sight. you are one of the few that are totally in the dark. karen Re: mobility progress for >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> > Have not heard from you in ages. Guest guest
Yes , mobility is a very technical skill. It requires many repetitions, and a great deal of patience! You have to make use of all of your other senses! At times it can be very frightening! I have to walk down a very busy street every morning and night to make my way to work. Sometimes it sounds like the cars and trucks are going to run right over me. If it helps, it does get easier as the time goes on! You have made the decision to master this skill, and that is the biggest step! Don't be too hard on yourself! It takes a great deal of time, to master and feel confident with the skill. Let's put it this way, if you can master that skill, the rest of the road, is going to be a piece of cake! Guest guest
I agree with , . Mobility sets you free, but you hve to overcome the fear. I really think it is worse in today's world than when I was learning mobility. There is somuch more traffic. I live on a sidewalkless street and it seems like the cars are going to run overme; that has never happened and I trust my dog explicitly-as I did my cane hen I used one. Grit you teeth and keep it up! I'm sure you will get it. As , says, it does get easier as you gain the necessary skills. Re: mobility progress for Yes , mobility is a very technical skill. Guest guest
armando, thanks for that, i tink i have gotten rid of the fear or should i say shear tear? it just scared the heck out of me. now i am more patient and keep on trying. hearing the traffic is scary but hearing nothing in my neighbourhood is just as scary. karen Re: mobility progress for >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> > Have not heard from you in ages. Guest guest
, My very good friend, you are doing a really great job so just don't get discouraged. Hang in there because it will, one day, all come together and you will wonder what all of the confusion was about. Sweetie, these statements apply both the the mobility mountain you are climbing and the diet miasma you are wading through. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
may I ask what kind of shoes you wear? I know a long time ago you mentioned you used to love high heels. The right type of shoe can make a world of difference. As I get older I need help with balance which is not directly related to blindness. I wear a flat shoe. Another thing is to make maximum use of your hearing. Do keep us updated. Rita

Guest guest
Hi , you are well on the way! If you can't climb over those mountains, you sound like you are ready to tunnel through them!! Just to give you an idea, I know of folks that have taken up to five months to learn a difficult street crossing, and some people take up to two months just to learn to walk in a straight line. So take your time, and you will be just fine! The biggest obstacle to over come is the fear, and you sound like you are well on the way to doing that! Please keep us informed, we want to celebrate those successes with you! Re: mobility progress for > >>> >> >> >> > >>> >> >> >> > >>> >> >> >> > Have not heard from you in ages.
